Owen set to sign for Real Madrid
I was surprised when the rumours first started, I put it down to his agent trying to angle for a better wage from Liverpool on his contract but except for the formality of a medical he's set to sign for the biggest football club in the world for a measly £8m.
So what are peoples thoughts on the move? I have to wonder how much football he'll play given the fact Real have Raúl - who is a son of Real Madrid - Ronaldo and a rejuvenated Morientes but the same could have been said of McManaman when he went over there yet he managed to rack up over 100 appearances in three seasons. There's no question Owen will score when he plays and I also believe it can only make him a better player for England.
I'm a bit annoyed that I went over there to see Real last season and I didn't get to see Zidane, Beckham or Casillas and now Owen's joined as well. Time to arrange another visit methinks.
