Outlook express keeps deleting emails

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am running Outlook express on Windows XP Pro. Now up until yesterday I was a happy bunny downloading my emails. The when I logged in yesterday afternoon a shed load of emails had vanished, gone, disappeared never to reappear again. I checked in the Deleted items and they were not there. I would hazzard a guess and say that around 450 emails have gone.

So I was just looking at my emails tonight and some that were delivered today have gone missing whilst I was flicking through my other sub folders in out look express. I have ran Spybot Search & Destroy 3 times to make sure it wasnt spyware. My Anti Virus and Firewall is Panda Titanium and Zone Alarms Pro firewall. Nothing has come up with a thorough scan or anything. It only appears to happen with the inbox folder. I have set up a mail rule so everything that comes in gets copied to another folder and they appear to be safe there. I really am at my wits end as I use email a lot for work and customers must think I dont want to answer them.

Now this is too freakin weird. I have just gone into the new folder I have created. The one that I have the mail rule on and all the emails that have been deleted are in this box. It's like the inbox is hiding them in some way.

Anyone had any similar experience or any ideas on how to fix the problem ?

I rekon your ISP lost your inbox, then restored it from a backup later on (which is why all the earlier 'lost' messages reappeared). Pipex have done this to me a couple of times over the last 24 months..

Hi Ash,

You're missing a couple of key points of info for us to help you solve this.

Firstly, are you collecting via POP or IMAP?

Im collecting from POP. The provider is oneandone.co.uk for my own domain. My ISP is Bulldog ADSL. I have a number of sub-folders set up on my email. Even when I was clicking through these folders I could see the contets of my inbox going down, despite me not being in that folder to view emails :mad:

I was unsure if it was some kind of Trojan or something. Ran 4 virus checks yesterday and nothing. One thng that I have also noticed is that some web pages dont load up now as well. I have Zone Alarms Pro and regardless of the setting some pages takes ages to load. When i turn off Zone Alarams pages load fine. The email problem still persists with Z.A. on or off. Didn't know if was connected or not

I right clicked the properties on the inbox and it says there are 497 messages. Howevere I can only see like 25 of them. Dont know if this helps
