Ouija Boards

Would you? Wouldn't you? Have you?

I saw a second hand one at the carboot sale this weekend, quite weird seeing the box all labelled up the same way as Monopoly or any other board game, and I must admit I was intrigued. However, Kenny wanted to buy it and I point blank refused to have one in the house. I'm not overtly supersticious, not quite sure if I believe in ghosts or anything really, but these things give me goosebumps.

Anyone here own one? Tried one? Would you have one in your house?

I'd try it provided I was with a bunch of people, I don't think I'd keep it in the house though. I wouldn't however go to a secluded location in the middle of a forest to do it either.

I have tried one in my school, freaked all the teachers out when we were doing it and some big gust came along and blew the board away. :p

But no way would i try it in my house, not after what happened round a friends, we were doing one and then it sounded like someone hammering on the bedroom wall very very fast, we put our hands on the wall and it was vibrating, the odd thing was the other side WASNT, the mirror was shaking and after about 30 mins of this is just suddenly stopped.

Kinda vowed id not touch one after that.

The walls at his house are only about ~5CM thick, i find it odd how one side can vibrate vigouresly (sp?) and the other side not.

I tried it years ago, and something did happen.
Be it power of suggestion, will power or whatever, something did happen.
I wouldnt do it again.

Used to do them a lot at school. They did work. Ours was home made ie. Peices of paper with the Alphabet, Numbers, Yes & No Male & Female & A shot glass.

Put our fingers on it and the glass used to do a figure of 8 around the table until a question was asked and then it would spell some answer out. It was really a weird sensation. Even though the glass was firmly on the table it moved like it was floating.

The thing I remember was doing it one lunch while we were at school and my mate was making some home made wine. He kept it in a wardrobe in the spare bedroom hoping his parents wouldnt find it. Anyway we are doing the Ouija one day we are asking for a sign. We hears this great big bang upstairs and we quite royaly cacked our selves. Run upstairs and the Demi Jon had exploded in the wadrobe. I am 100% Sure it was just coincidence As it was pretty hot and right next to the boiler. All the same it was scary at the time.

Did them years ago. Only one bad experience was when the glass decided to fly off the table. Immediatly washed it out and burned all the paper we had used.

I would never have one in my house.

Als o i spent the night in Chingle Hall ( Im sure you have heard of it ) We did one ther but nothing happend to my amazement.

Mind you we was all plastered so they was probably scared of us :(

I'd try em.

Why the hell not, dont believe in ghosts anyways. I'm the kinda person who has to see it for myself to truely believe........................ the kinda person that always dies first in horror movies................... on second thoughts, I think I'll pass.

Well, I think the thing I find more unnerving about this thread isn't the stories that are being told, but the ones that aren't. If Throd and Trem, the old ruffians of the forum, don't want to go into details about it then thats a bit worrying.

I was into a lot of "ghost hunting" when I was younger, often stayed the night in haunted places and graveyards, and I've used a ouija board on many occasions.

So, from a quite experienced standpoint - it's a load of old bollocks.

Myself and a few others did it at the Royal Naval College because with its age we thought it would be the lost likely place for something to happen, unfortunately we kept getting interrupted and nothing happened.

I did it with a friend at his parents house once, after about 5 mins the glass moved about 2 CM, he shit himself and took his finger off, I accused him of moving the glass, he accused me of moving it, then we both got pissed and forgot about it. We never did it again because his parents found out and threatened to kick him out.

My mum and Aunt did it years ago and something happened, dunno what as they wont talk about it, all I know is my mum refuses to let anyone do anything related it in the house.

It probably IS a load of bollocks, but all Ill say is the glass DID move, it DID seem to know things about the people touching the glass, and it did scare the shit out of me, and I wasnt even touching the glass.
And I dont even believe in ghosts or anything.

Never tried it, never liked em, wouldn't have one in the house, be in the house of someone who had one in theirs or stay in a house where someone was using one! I wouldn't touch one with someone elses finger!
I have no idea why though ...... I'm very anti-superstition (make sure I walk under ladders etc heheh), am not religious (i.e. the good and evil thing) and don't believe in ghosts in the conventional sense. However, I do think the mind is a much more powerful thing than we understand and that upon 'death' we don't just cease to exist. Guess it's kind related to that in some way. I do know people who have tried it and most wish they hadn't. Very weird things indeed.

The oiuja board is an old boar game produced for..well, fun. The name comes from two words for... "oui" which is french for yes and "ja" which is german for yes.

So in escence it's a YesYes board.

I suppose I should refresh my memory and do a bit of research. I was well into this stuff when I was younger.

I've read diary extracts from the diary of the priest about whom the film the Exorcist was based and he tells of the young boy (yes) using a Ouija board to contact his recently deceased grandmother. It was shortly after that the weird shit started happening.
