well I don't know about OS, but I may have a motherboard problem, this 98 machine will freeze on the first boot, straight after it finishes loading everything into memory (all the apps & stuff after the gui) total freeze, cured by a reset, scandisk, and normal load.

Strange EH? every time.
I did visit the makers site and download the flash program etc but I'm a bit loathed to do the deed... don't tell me there's anyone else heard/suffered this, don't tell me there is an AMD patch for Windows that I don't know about (or shouldn't I use such words here)

imho, w2k is the first time m$ got it right.
especially after the service pack

win 2k rules 4 HL and quake 2 and unreal and UT and.....

the only problem with windows 2000 is that i cant find any pctel modem drivers. i get around an extra 15% fps in most gamers and i can run games at 1152*86? on a 15" Monitor and be assured that there are NO instabilities.
