i gotta problem

I've been fiddeling with this ut s3tc hack thingy that works in open gl.

But, in open gl the game is practically pitch black, and i can't adjust it at all - the adjuster wont work, neither will the preferences option.

I normally play in d3d you see...

Help cos i wanna appreciate these damn fine textures!

gamma.
I think you can adjust the gamma value in the advanced preferences menu.
Also I seem to remember on of the F-keys letting you cycle thru several gamma values.

yeah going through the gamma/brightness values makes no difference in game.

its screwed

gamebassment told me to up the gamma on the geforce, but doing so to make ut seeable would make everything white in windows - surely another way to do rather than up and down it each time?

hmmmmmm

I had the same problem using the OpenGL setup. The way I workaround it is basically what you've already been told - alter the gamma setting for your GeForce. I have a default gamma setting for Windows and another specifically for UT. All I do is run the UT gamma setting (under the GeForce settings) before I load UT and I get by fine. After finishing with UT, I just load up the default gamma setting and everything's back to normal again.

I don't know if there are other ways to accomplish the same thing without this hassle but I've kinda settled in to just using this.

I have a Voodoo3 card and in my 3dfx tools section in the control panel I can change the settings for OpenGL in there so whenever it switches to UT it uses those settings :)
