Can you either leave threads open, or leave them closed please?

I don't mind which, just make up your mind and stick with it - as I just typed a rather complicated response, all in haiku format, to the "Get it off your chest" thread, just to find it not there because it had been closed before I pressed "Submit".

I have to say the forums have come a long way since I recall from the "olden days" - and I don't agree with censorship from a non-legal point of view - ie, "I'm going to censor this because I don't agree with it", rather than "I'm going to censor this because it is potentially legally damaging".

It's annoying that people can't contribute unless they have the lock/unlock button tbh.

I have to say that this is also annoying me.

Thread starter "omg i dont like what you have said"

*clicks close thread*

Thread starter: "That'll show you and definitely not make me look like a childish twat"

:/

I'll open it again if that's what you want. I didn't even know GDW had moderator capabilities and was to be honest a bit narked he decided to close it after I deemed it should be left open for you to have your say. If it opens again though, it's staying that way.

Jonny: Thread starters (in any thread) have the power to close said thread again. It's just the way it's always been set up - though I believe it differs slightly in different forums.

I find it useful in the Tech forum, since once a problem is answered it can be closed and kept tidy for future reference. In here I'm less sure - but I think there's enough debates raging without openning that one up right now :p

E-mail me on jon.austin@game.net if you want. I'm very busy trying to get some multiplayer service up and running at the moment but I'll try to find time to reply.

In the General Forum I really dont see the need to close a thread unless utter chaos has occurred and people start killing one another.

In the case of the tech forum then you really dont need a thread being filled with useless drivel...so yes closing it is a good thing

Since you all seem agrieved at me closing the thread I think its only fair to give an explanation.

I was getting more angry with every reply that Johnny gave me and knew that if I didnt close it Id say something totally stupid and regret it.

Im sorry that some of you were in the middle of posting when it happened but that'll teach you for your past spamming sins:p

But everything you were saying was clearly untrue. How can I respond to your comments if they are false?

"I subscribed long before GAME came along"

No, you didn't.

"We never got the promised bonus"

Yes, you did.

"You're not doing anything"

Yes, we are.

And your response after that was to accuse me of patronising you, ducking the issues and then, again, to turn to the personal insults.

Just exercise some self-control?

Surely every post to a public forum is spam anyway (ie. ubiquitous)?

Lets clear up some misunderstanding since you are keen to keep this going (trolling):

1 When I subscribed for the service I was not aware that GAME had bought Barrysworld (not that that would have made a difference). Problem = Communication

2. As for the promised bonus I had no idea that all subscriptions were renewed until today. I have received no email or read anywhere about it. If it was posted in the forum then I missed it.
Problem = Communication

3 Please show me where I accused GAME about not doing anything I dont believe I ever said that nor did I imply it.
Problem = Communication

4 When did I say that you were patronising me. After posting a large and calm post all you did was make pedantic replies, side stepping the issue so yes you were ducking the issue The issue being Im an upset customer. All you did was make me more angry tbh

5 As for personal insults, learn to like them otherwise the job your trying to do by fitting in to the forum isnt for you. Insults are part of the norm in here Im surprised you didnt realise that.

GDW: It was sent, we're sorry if you didn't get it - I don't know how that happened. GAME (or EB at the time) taking over BW was big news, it was everywhere, including all over EB.uk.com, game.uk.com and Barrysworld!

And if I was trying to fit in, I'd be undercover.

Look mate, I really want you to be happy, so if you feel we've ripped you off I'm serious about contacting our customer service department, you have every right to. They are trained to deal with annoyed customers, I am not. It's not my job to come in here, take abuse and try to make you feel better but I have tried anyway. (You've already said you've pretty much made your mind up anyway tbh).

Which is noble, to an extent, but evidently a very bad idea. If you're not here in an official capacity I think perhaps you should stick to talking about Buffy. If you hit on official things, people decide you're responsible/in charge/whatever and take it out on you. 's really not worth it tbh.

Well I am here in an official capacity, but not as your friendly neighbourhood customer-services person. I don't think forums are the place to air your personal grievances, as all this happens, as I keep saying we have others to deal with that in a far more effective way.

/me gets on with writing my spec script for the first episode of next season's Angel. Andrew appears! \o/ Mutant Enemy writing team, here I come!
