Someone posted this in another thread, but I thought it deserved to be in lights with a title and stuff ;)

One of the big criticisms for GOA over DAOC was lack of advertising - whether it would have helped or not is a moot point but the community certainly felt that they should have done more.

With WAR they're certainly delivering...

Says something about the 19th August in French. I assume it means the full version will be viewable?

Ooh, if only those graphics in the trailer were actual ingame animations of the final release client. :D

Hmm.. Wonder why they used mtv insted of channels that might reach a potential audience better.
Hope the real adds will be more "mainstream" positioned in the correct timeslots with the correct programs in large channels. Not that it matters that much, wow didn't air one single add as far as I know in Sweden before launch.

WoW was advertised in the U.K. remember when i was watching Soccer A.M. i used to see it being advertised.

Been trying to look out for WAR advert on MTV, but not been able to catch it yet.

Well my UK Sky service has 6 different "MTV" channels and twice I tried to see the advert (9:30 and 11:30) which mean't flicking between 6 channels and didn't get a sniff of it. So which ACTUAL MTV channel is it?

Well when I looked last night at 11:30 on whatever was the first MTV station (usually the "main" one) there was some hideous reality show called "I love New York 2" on that made my brain cry and I don't recall there was even any adverts at 11:30.

Just checked and that was "MTV one". /shrug

The sixth MTV channel was "MTV two" and at about 11:35 I saw most of an advert break with loads of video game ads and WII ads but no WAR unless it was the first one on. Either way it wasn't 11:30. Who knows.

Checked at several of the time slots mentioned on MTV one over the past few days and still aint came across the advert.

As some of the other guys have said though, MTV is a really bad choice of channels to advertise WAR. MTV back in the 90's would have been a good choice, but now days its full of crap like Sweet 16 and other piss poor reality tv shows that are aimed at young teenage girls.

I'm not saying its bad, but i think its bad marketing as the Demographics of the game are going to be aimed more to guys aged between mid teens to 30's.

Also im pretty sure the average teenage girl would not be interested in playing WAR. In all the years ive been playing MMO's ive only been guilded with a few woman and they have all been in their late 20's - early 30's.

I think its common knowledge that the game industry in general is aimed at the male market.

Have to say I only have access to MTV 1 and hoped it was that, but it was on some lame soap opera type show, so I just switched off and will wait until it's on the web everywhere..

OK this is becoming a bloody obsession now. I checked at 3 of the times yesterday and still never saw it. Now I'm thinking that the times posted are CET and 1 hour ahead of UK time so I am infact 1 hour late every time. How difficult can it be to watch a flaming a TV advert when you supposedly know when and where it's on? But the question is do we really know when and where it's on?
