It's a dual P4 3.4 with 2 Gb of RAM and the highest spec Vid Card, Quatro or somethinig. It's for our new CAD guy.

I love it, he gets this £2K+ laptop and a £4K+ license for Autocad and the bastards won't even give me £2K so I can destroy the evil NT4 and install a nice, new AD.

In fact, they questioned me over a £32 wireless access point the other day and refused to pay the list price!! :(

poor Whipped, you're smack in the middle of the great (IT) paradox. managers tend to be perfectly willing to shell out loads of dosh for new things with vague returns expected, but take an existing something down? no way bozo, he'll want timelines, fallbacks and returns over time written out in triplicate and discussed for a year before saying no :/

Yep, that's about it :) The other favorite saying in my place is, "If it works, why replace it." :(

that IS a pretty strong argument tho :)

me and my coworker just found out that its going pretty well economy-wise for the company we work for, so we are gonna tell our boss that to increase our working efficiency, we need to put up wireless access points all over the building and 2 PDA's with alot of stuff (we are actually gonna say alot of stuff to cover up what we are really gonna order like GPS software and stuff like that) hopefully no one will notice....
