First some background info: Recently I started to use Google reader for following RSS feeds and Google bookmarks to store my bookmarks. (Yeah I know they profile me... actually I used to block all google cookies and at times even use TOR network for my searches on my crusade for anonymity & privacy). However having the news feeds and bookmarks accessible from anywhere and from any pc, including "read status" and such seemed like a lot of benefit, so I decided to go for it.
Now I just miss a similiar service for accessing newsgroups using NNTP. I know of Google groups and found also other similiar services, but one requirement is that I must be able to enter private, password-protected NNTP server(s) I want to follow as well.
So basically I am looking for a service where I could just log in using a www-browser and have my newsgroups (from various nntp servers) accessible along with information about new messages.
I also got (Linux) servers where I could host it myself. So far I tried PHP-based pnews and webnews but neither of them were "personal" (show summary of new messages, keep track of new/read messages etc).
Anyone know such service? I don't care if it costs a little either.
