do you reckon an atm would take a card with the plastic peeled up a bit on the edges ?

looking at the side you can see the plastic cover thats come off - should i just peel it all off ? or try and hope the atm doesnt eat my card ?

So long as the plastic won't get caught in the machine, it should still work fine. The machine only reads the magnetic strip.

Reads the chip if youve got one. Or it must do, because cards which have buggered strips still work in ATM's.

Hmm I didn't know that. I thought the chips were just there for pin codes at the point of sale.

I used to have my current account with Alliance and Leicester and there online banking was utter shit, to sign up for the online banking you rang them, then they sent you a pin and a 10 number, you then phone them again to tell them that you got the 10 digit number and give them another 10 digit number to replace it. Then after some farting about I managed to logon, went to pay my Credit Card bill, when to bill payments, clicked add new got told to ring customer services to get it setup! I left them and moved my accounts to Nationwide

I like Nationwides system as you only need a 9 digit number which can be stored on the machine then a memorable data which is 1 of the 3 questions you were asked initally then another 6 digit number and your in! Since then I haven't had to contact them, I added my credit card details, it shows all my savings/current/credit accounts on the same page allowing high-speed money transfers from one account to the other, it also shows active direct debits so you know who is taking money.

They also have Digital TV banking and Pocket PC Banking so you can check things out, even pay bills from anywhere!
