im trying to work out the force constant of something using the wavenumber and reduced mass etc

how do i re-arrange the equation shown in photo to make the k at the end of the equation the subject of the equation, all other values shown are known!

i believe it would be

(vbar * mu)/reciprocal of (2 pi c)

havent had to do this kind of thing for over a year so it might be wrong. the way to re arrange equations is to the inverse operations.

i got k= 4*(pi^2)*u*(v^2)

probably totally wrong tho :)

((vbar/(1/(2piC))^2 * u

so fuck knows mate. aint got a clue

i did:

(vbar)*2*pi*C = (k/u)^0.5

so

k/u = [(vbar)*2*pi*C]^2

=> k= u*(vbar^2)*(C^2)*4*(pi^2)

Then since vbar=V/c you can substitute it in to eliminate C and vbar and get:

k= 4*(pi^2)*u*(v^2)

Probably made a stupid mistake somewhere tho.

v/c = 1/ 2piC x squarert k/u

v/c / 1/2piC = squarert k/u

(v/c / 1/2piC)^2 = k/u

u(v/c / 1/2piC)^2 = k

WHERE / = divide and ^2 = square

That's IF the dot symbolizes a standard multiplication. I know fk all about physics so the formula is unknown to me.

Also assumes that vbar isn't needed in the equation. As in it is simply demonstrating that the equation is so. If it is - then fuck knows ;)

But should be possible to make it 'shorter' by eliminating c as ileks wrote, but I'm not really sure how you do that. This solution should be correct either way.

EDIT: had another look at ileks answer and I'd go with that instead.

Show your a true Physicist, simply write:

The equation is irrelevant. I applied a force to my caravan and it went over the cliff.
