Hi Guys
I'm thinking of getting back into riding again. I've had my car license for 2 years now and am starting to feel very, very unfit. I used to ride a lot, but have no bike now.
Having gone down Halfords at the weekend, I was shocked at the amount of variety now available.

Basically, this has me interested, but I though I'd get an opinion from an expert ;)

I'll be using the bike to ride the 2-3 miles to and from work and the odd Sunday ride along dirt tracks.

I wouldn't get a full suspension bike if you're doing mostly road riding tbh. Its just lots of wasted effort.

And it'll weigh far more than a hardtail or rigid bike. And won't be much more comfortable.

If you are looking at that sort of price range, second hand is your friend. Check local papers, Gumtree, and boards in your local supermarket. You'll pick up a lot more bike for your money.

hmm I would certainly not get a full sus bike for a couplamiles and a bitontheweekend stint. perhaps a decent looking 2ndhander for that pricerange as well. In an aside, MBUK gave the Giant Yukon 8/10 and a winner stamp against 3 other entry level hardtails. Seems it's 299 squids.

Cheers for the advice guys. My Dad's a big cyclist and agreed that a full sus bike would be way over the top and just have me bouncing around all over the place. That Yukon does look nice, however £300 is a little bit more than I wanted to spend.

There is a Diamond Back for £200 with front suspension and front disc breaks that looks like it might be a good fit for me.

I will be selling mine soon if you're interested Whipped, but for a bit more than you're asking there.

Don't get that bike btw, it'll last 6 months and break. Look at hybrids.
