I think we may as well ignore Kryten next time he says he's leaving.

1 ."I'm leaving GA".... "Oh OK I'll come back"
2. "I'm fed up and ****, I'm giving it all up".... "Oh OK I'll come back"
3. "I've just run up a £200 phone bill by forgettting to check my pay scheme with NTL".... "Oh OK I'll come back... Ooo, I can afford ISDN too"

Number 3: how does that work?

Shovel, piss off. Krytes awight.

Kry mate...think yourself lucky. When I was living in Reading my phonebill was £240 + a MONTH for 1 and a half years.

it rocketed to over £400 one particular month when I bought EverQuest. (I promptly snapped the EQ CD in half after getting that bill)

Either way....just more drivel

See ya Kry

erk perp! f00king hell!
well Shovel
ISDN - 116 quid for line conversion and 35 quid for an Asuscom ISDN card - the starting costs
Rental is 40 quid a month, including 15 quids of calls
Add that to the Claranet 80 deal
thats 29.99 for 80 hours
Thusly, 70 quid per month, will give me, what i worked out at 4 hours a night, and all weekend with my curent BTI account.
Compared to a 200 bill thats quit a saving

Anyway, Everquest sucks

Yes I'm bumping an age old thread but it made me laugh.

Remember the phone bills of dread?

I racked up bills of about 3-400 quid a MONTH due to Tribes, QW, etc.

Anyone else rack 'em up? :) Gf would go crazy and her parents couldn't ever telephone us of course.

Thank god for unlimited access now.

/edit: some old faces in this thread btw :)

We got one once - £700.

Bt were such bastards about it.

"We like to contact our clients when there phone bills are higher than normal, in case they are not aware of the situation. We do this to safeguard our clients from excessively high bills they were not expecting. Your bill for this quarter is currently at £780."

And, ever since then, I have hated BT. I enquired when they were going to be introducing flat rate internet charges, like they have in America, and I was completely reemed by them.

NEVER. They said, and started laying into me over why it could never ever happen, naive annoying girl who went to america and saw how cheap they got the internet for.

Boy, wish I'd kept that e-mail now.

Yeah I got my first £260 bill through from NTL (for a month) and had to go out and get a job in a betting shop to pay for it (and all subsequent billz).

I think I managed something like £800 in a quarter during the summer holidays. I didn't understand the concept of peak rate and how much it cost etc and I'd spend most of the day online without knowing how much it was going to be. It was quite a surprise when it arrived, I was only 13 or something and my parents went 'a bit mental'. That was playing lots of Q2 :D

Back when ClaraNet had that annoying autodialler my system used to automatically connect for hours at a time, even when I was out (yeah, ok, never turned the PC off - so partially my fault...)

I was woken one morning by crazed screams from downstairs, turns out NTL delivered not one but three envelopes of phone bills for my account into the hands of my crazed landlady who opened one on autopilot and saw the bills total of £280... or so she thought.

So after much shouting and argument I went upstairs with all three envelopes and looked in the other two - turns out the £280 was the running total for bill 2 of 3 or something, total payable about £435...

Thankfully I'd just sold my car so I paid it there and then, but for the next few nights I had nightmares of this crazed old woman creeping into my bedroom with a carving knife :scared:
