Gamespy poker, because gambling irl cash is just stupid. I watched a friend of mine the other day put £250 in a machine in less than 2 hours and he walked away well pissed. If that's someone's idea of entertainment and rl then tbh I'd rather play games and not have to worry about rl risks :p

Not stupid if you know how to do it..I have made 30x my original deposit in 5 weeks playing part time, put in £30 now on 970~ but I've been playing for a 3/4 years and spent a lot of money and time playing online poker and reading books and playing in live tournaments.

It can cause people problems but I have NEVER gambled outside my means.

poker unlike other forms of gambling is educated gambling, you gamble only when the odds are favourable to you unlike something like roulette.

Can still go tits up but hes right in what hes saying.

I prefer to just rob someone after they've been to the casino and hope that they were a good poker player inside. ;]

You do realise you can always become addicted to online gambling aswell.

You say all that, but you might even be addicted to it.

Firstly

Slot machines =

= Lame, dull, mindless, tard gambling for those that just cba

Come back when you know a little bit about poker. David Sklansky is a good place to start.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sklansky

Secondly your playing on free tables, you will learn nothing about poker there except hand rankings.

Back to topic, used to play a fair bit on boss media sites eg celeb poker. But I'd recommend titan poker although you can get better deals on that same site circuit if you look around. Can't remember the other sites off the top of my head.

Housemate is fairly into it, the other day he made $1000 on friday and $500 yesterday, thats about after a year of playing and grinding up stakes. His friend has been playing 2 years is is on more like $50,000 bank roll, evidence of that is he cashed out £10k to buy a merc. The guy is 21 and doing full time education at uni. If you know what you are doing its practically impossible to go bankrupt, you just drop down stakes to build your roll back up. But yes you can have downswings (times of bad run of cards) but in the long term if you play correctly you will beat the game. Personally I can't handle being to tilt which I why I stopped before any damage was done.

At least it's 1 step up from having a Claymore of Might and knowing how many hitpoints a Goblin has. :p

What site do you work at? is it an online casino or poker? TO be honest those people would find themselves fucked anyway. They could go to a casino and spend just as much if not more, I don't have any sympathy for people who gamble like that at the end of the day you need to say..enough is enough.

My friend was using a fruit machine, he's a compulsive gambler with an obvious addiction. He'd gamble on how my pubic hairs you have on your balls if the odds were good enough, that's how bad. IIRC he's going to play irl poker in a club on Thursday, my money is on he loses :p

Ahem, to the person that quoted me, I have been playing poker for years, 16 years in fact. I made alot of money out it, but now I see why I should not play it, but also why you should read my posts closer and why you should not make comments till you have read them properly ...:twak:

He'll get fucking taken apart mate..casinos are shark dens, ive been to a few cash tournaments and there are some serious players there. He needs to seek help imo, and you should talk to him about it..I would go with him and try to limit the amount he loses, poker is a game where you can lose ALOT.

Edit: you've been playing for 16 years so you know the above :p

To the person that refered to me as the person that quoted them: Read your post very well thanks, don't know quite what details you are reffering to. You just said that you played on gamespy poker not for cash and that your friend was a maniac who gambles on slot machines.

I tryed, he doesn't listen, it's boring as hell too. He's won a few grand at times in casinos, but last casino he went to, he'd won like 2,000, spent a bit over a couple of days, went back to the casino and then took a 19 mile walk home from Sunderland to Durham due to being cleaned. Two weeks later he did it again, some peeps never learn, nor will :S

Don't need to play for cash, I got so good at it that peeps stopped playing me and made me realise that I should quit while I am ahead.

Edit : And fyi, there's nothing wrong with playing gamespy poker, I found it fun when it started way back and still find it fun from time to time. It's playing the game that counts not how much of a nQQb is this guy because he plays gamespy poker. Poker is poker end of story.

The idea of being barred from casinos or anywhere else for that matter doesn't appeal to me tbh. I play crib for money these days tho in pubs, more fun ;)

Exactly, turn pro. There will never ever be a time when noone will want to play you because they think you are 'too good'. So basically you beat your mum and sis a few times and they gave up so you retired undefeated.

As for quitting while your ahead again illustrating the lack of knowledge of the game. You said you were very good so therefore beating the game consistently. Saying you quit because you were ahead implies you hit a bit of luck and got a good run of cards. Continue playing if your that good, long term you will be swimming in champagne.

Keep digging. Casinos wont bar you for being good at poker. They will treat you like royalty, they take a cut (rake) of every hand you play. The better you are the higher the stakes you'll be playing i.e the more rake they get. You arn't playing against the house. Getting the impression you got the words poker and blackjack mixed up somewhere along the line.

Nope.. :) And two types of blackjack, can't confuse either of em, although I prefer the more complex version, bit like an old card game called Newmarket that I used to play as a kid :)

Was playing VC and my PC blew up so not gonna reinstall it other than to get meh winnings out, then gonna go play on PKR for a bit methinks - need a change of screen design atm methinks as got to a point where I couldnt be bothered to log on as was sick of playing - even if I was on a roll.

If I ever lose big I never tilt, would rather play little bit longer and see where my head is at, then decide if I should carry on or take a break and come back proper fresh.

Read a cracking book couple of weeks ago for any poker fans - Stu Ungar - The Man Behind The Shades - you can all think you can play poker but this mofo COULD play poker. (p.s he didnt get banned from any casino's for being good :/)

Used to play a lot, made a nice little profit and even considered playing professionaly, but havent played since they shut all those US sights down.

I wonder how you could possibly compare newmarket to a complex verision of blackjack, when newmarkets just about the easiest game in the world and nothing like any version of blackjack I know, are you sure your not getting confused ? :)
