... let us impart the internetz powah of teh Freddys!

The Children's Heart Surgery Service in Leeds is now under threat of closure as part of cost saving measures, meaning the nearest hospital for young cardiac patients in Yorkshire would probably be Newcastle, Liverpool or even further afield. It was a horrendously stressful time for us when Theo was in hospital but it was made much easier by the fact that we were close to home and had family and friends nearby. Having to travel would only have made the whole ordeal much worse.

We'd therefore be really grateful if you could just take a minute to sign this petition to help keep children's heart surgery in Leeds and please also forward it to as many people as possible:

Thank you very much!

I think we should keep the politics out of this thread.

Signed.

There were always going to be cuts and those cuts were always going to affect someone. It's a hard line to take but if the Government went about not cutting back everywhere where it might actually affect somebody then they would never save any money.

And wtf Mabs, you know about constituencies right? Not all (tory) MPs live in London. :)

The heart services I thought were being cut due to quality issues rather than funding.

They're moving childs heart surgery to 2-3 national centres rather than it being so spread out.
Would you rather your child was treated by an expert and had the best surgery in the country, or was treated locally?

Good point there.

I'm going to asks omething i hope won't start a huge rantwar etc, just curious on peoples views and perhaps raising a point;

Where do you believe the money should be taken away? Becasuse if it's not this, it's something else.

Is some middle-aged lung patient less important? Should parents of a kid with an arm surgery just suck it up?

Done.

That unit has been on the hit list for some years now - I can remember its closure being proposed several times in the past few years and without going into all the details, what with the current hack and slash approach I doubt that it can be saved this time tbh. Still lets hope it can.
