Fucking loving it!

It's only within the past couple of days I've really started using it, but my god it's brilliant!

Ok, fair enough I'm using n00buntu, but still, it's a start!

I love the terminal, as installing pretty much anything is a matter of "apt-get install "whatever"", and no farting about with downloads or installation packages.

Next project is to get a KDE session installed and running, as well as trying out XFCE


Any good websites for Linux n00bs where I can pick up some good tips & tricks?

Ubuntu Live CD ftw!

Just managed to recover a dead Vista *shudder* HDD that wouldn't mount with my external enclosure in XP (it was from Lou's brother's laptop).

Live CD to the rescue and was able to read what was left of the file system and copy it off to a external HDD.

Lol, well I've got the Wubi installation ported over to a permanent install thanks to LVPM, to a 30Gb partition formatted to ext, which means I can delete the wubi install now.

Mind you had to do some tinkering with the menu.lst and a Vista bootloader editor to have it appear in the Vista boot menu (thanks to LVPM getting my two hdds round the wrong way and pointing Grub to hd0 rather than hd1), but I got there without too much trouble.

Got XFCE installed and working, but I'm still preferring Gnome tbh. Going to download and give KDE4 a go tomorrow, see if it's up to much.


Waz - apart from yourself, the only XPD-ite I see online now and again is Swiss. Mind you I read him in plenty of mags every month too

Haven't even seen Mocha online or IRL for donkeys :/

Sar - In regards to mochs, I've heard he's moved to the mainland - Manc I think. Popped on IRC the other day and got filled in that much. I haven't seen Swiss online, he ever use IRC anymore do you know?
