We walked in; was disgusted and walked back out.

Horrible place with a horrible atmosphere.

Aye. Agree. Not very nice places. I had to sign on for a bit between jobs many many years ago and even then it was a horrible place. The amount of abuse people gave the staff was staggering (I think there are security guards in all the job centres these days)

I consistently fall foul of the same data protection laws when calling the tax man. For example: I set up a client to file their VAT Returns online and also set-up the security questions and answers so that I can use it online.

However when having continual problems last week trying to file a Return I rang the tax man and asked if there were any problems with the system. The guy asked me who I was and, because I didn't lie and say I was the company director he wouldn't speak to me.

Well, only to spend ten minutes telling me how awful I was for attempting to call on behalf of the company. Yes, he accepted that I could file information on their behalf and that I knew all of their security questions, but no way in hell would he speak to me.

So I rang the Director on holiday in Spain and he begrudingly called them. It turned out that the system was down that day. What is so f**king confidential about telling a caller their systems aren't working properly? Jobsworths obfuscate, they hide behind the regulations so that they don't have to do anything at all.

A helpful Revenue employee could have just mentioned that the system was playing up that day and to leave it till tomorrow. Not spend ten minutes being holier than thou.

Not at all surprising that Tohtori is on the side of the jobsworth morons, cocks the lot of them.
