OMG 300 was awesome

Best film I have seen in a long time, what did everyone else think? Xerxes made me laugh, he was like 50cent gone wrong with all the bling bling. The only bad point about the film was the last 2 minutes, typical crappy ending with some dodgy speech, leaving the ending open for a sequel, but that will be hard as in history they all get slaughtered.
Unless the next film will be about how they die horribly...

pretty good film imo. I know what you mean about the ending.

Just incase any people say "why did the samurai/shogan dudes have goblin faces" etc. Its because the story is told from one of the Spartan's, as its his story there are things he explains where he adds drama.

There's much more effect if he says "The shogun warriors had disgusting faces all dead and evil looking" as opposed to "Oh, they were Japanese people who looked really angry".

Well, thats what i thought. Also this theory backs up the size of the elephants.

and now i will clarify, the greeks won the battle of plataea, the ending was pretty nice imo, there wont be a sequel. how in history did they get slaughtered?

i thought at the battle of thermopthefloor (cant recall the right name rofl) there were two spartan survivors however because of the shame of it one killed himself and the other one got killed by his own mother as a coward for not dying in battle (nice eh? and you think your family is harsh??)

however there is the original movie on over the weekend on tv so if anyoen wants historical accuracy watch that... it might accedentally contain some lol.

300 is loosely based on the Events surrounding the Battle of Thermopylae (circa 480bc)

There are varying legends / lore regarding the facts of the battle, but in general it is said that a force of Greeks (consisting of a number of allied city states) held the strategic mountain pass at Thermopylae against a vastly numerically superior force of invading persians.

The greeks held for days but were betrayed and outflanked by the persians. A core of 300 spartan warriors and a further 700 other greeks led by King Lionedas of Sparta volunteered to stay behind to cover the retreat of the rest of the army.

The greek rear guard was eventually overwhelmed, but not before taking a vast toll on the Persian army.

The resistance at Thermopylae gave Athens enough time to prepare her navy which in turn, led to the eventual defeat of King Xeres of Persia at the Battle of Plataea.


The success of the Greeks at Thermopylae is generally thought to be down to Superior training, Quality equipment, and maximum use of strategic terrain. If the lore is to be believed... Xeres's first assault against the pass resulted in thousands of persians dying to the greek phalanx spanning the pass for only a handfull of casualties on the greek side. Xeres tried frontal assaults two or three more times before he eventually gave up and resorted to bribery, allowing his elite guard (known as "the Immortals") to slip through a secret pass behind the greek lines.

Intersting stuff.

i realy liked it thought it was a clas film. but didn't really like the ending with the spech was a bit cheesy for my liking.

but the fact they made the litle diformed trator welsh made me laugh a lot.

the leather speedo's made me feel slightly ill as well as they can't be good for your health.

a lot of the weird tortured things were good specaly the fat guy,
but i think they could have made Xeres's say i pitty you fool (Mr T)
at least once but i probally wouldn't have been able to stop laughing.

graphics were great but i would like to read up on the actual facts of the battle now to find out how much has been but in by holywood.

but othere than a few cringe worthy bits of chese like the ending thought it was a fantastic film and really enjoyed it

Sorry guys I just watched it and I thought it was crap.
I thought the story line was woefull (and I'm not talking about historical accuracy here because I expect none from the American Film industry).
I thought all the Spartans looked a bit camp.
Both kings were like something from a WWF stage show.
The acting was poor.

Some of the blood and snoters fight scenes were well done though.

But its a good thing we all got different tastes though

Well, you shouldn't check the actual facts.. but you should read the Frank Miller comics.. since the story is based on the comic and not on the actual battle..

Good movie, as said before its pretty cheesy with slow mo's being overused at the start imo
