Stupid choice, mainly on Charltons behalf.. 18mil would of got them enough quality to save them from the drop instead they are just gunna rely on one person to keep them up who is prone to injury.. good job Pardew

true, chelsea pay inflated prices for the players THEY sign. they don't, however have any real influence on the transfers of other players/their value.

it is, however, well documented that english players have price tags FAR above their worth - the case and point again being players like francis jeffers and so on. for years english teams have been forced to pay over the odds or look abroad to sign similarly talented players for half the price. then again, you wouldn't think to look at the facts would you.

Bent aint worth 18million, Charlton should have flogged him then pissed themselves when they bought him back after West Ham go down for 1/4 of the price.

Can't understand West Ham atm - spending all this money in their position - could be worse than Leeds if they aint careful - I mean Lucas Neill on 60k pw - now thats stoopid imo...

Simple answer to that.. if they stay up then next year even finishing last in the prem will net them £30million. The new investors have money and willing to spend it knowing that they will get the return next season.

And Charlton need Bent to keep them up, they wouldnt be able to replace him in under 48hrs so they would need to turn it down or dent their chances of staying up.
