Was watching it yesterday, as they took it through London, and I'm watching it today as is goes through Paris... So far, its nothing more that a complete farce.

Yesterday, they needed 5 layers of protection on the damn thing, because people kept trying to run out and extinguish it. Several thousand protestors looked almost like a mob come the end of the day, as they waited for the Chinese ambassedor to attempt to pick up the flame to try and look like a 'good guy'. Had he done so, London would be currently burning to the ground.

But today in Paris it looks even worse, as they had to bring out the riot police and the Specials for prtoection (who also have a tendency of getting heavy handed). Thing is, it wouldn't be happening if they hadn't decided at the last olympics to 'parade the flame' in various cities.

Seriously, this is all new. True, you used to hae a relay thing going were the torch was lit and someone ran with it, handing it on at various places, to light the torch at the ceremony, but all this 'running through the cities' balls is just advertising. And we have months more of this crap to get through.

I turned on the news to see one guy with a bloody (and possobly broken) jaw, and one woman being manhandled by three guys into a police van. Is this what I have to look forward to for the next few dozen weeks? Anyone else think someones going to die before this is all over?

Thought and rants please :D

sounds like a load of shite as usual to me.

something else which shouldnt be news but it is.

the olympics should just be about watching people do crazy shit in sports, we dont need advertising and certainly i couldnt give a shit that it will be in london in 4 years time.

Why can't people leave other have their fun and f*ck off with their political views and "kick down sand castle" manners? Used to be the olympic flame was "sacred" as such.

I'm not gonna come around and piss on tris-s work station just because i find his views on carrots and how they are sold differs from mine, or because i would find it extremely hilarious.

Ofcourse might be because i don't know where tris- works, but besides the point.

3.000 policemen in Paris atm! It's INSANE tbh! They are trying keep a 200m ring around the Flame so people have no chance to even get close to it

What do you mean? I'm watching it on chinese TV and theres crowds of people cheering the olmypic flame into the middle of paris. There seem to be some people following it on bicycles as well, and I cant actually see the flame. But apparently the french celebrate these things that way.

It makes me larf when they say 'No politics in sport'

Yeah, fine if you're talking about a local footy match but when it's an international event and they roll countries flags up for the winners then politics is bang in the middle of sports.

Why do people represent their country anyway?

It's all just nationalism disguised as 'sport', at what point did the Olympics become an international dick waving contest?

It should be Billybob wins the marathon and he 'happens' to come from Kenya.

London set the standard for all the other protesters. Those chinese 'guardians' are gonna have to face that kinda shit for a long time yet.

omg I agree with you ^^

It's not like the Tibet thing is new and Russia does exactly the same thing, yet nobody outside protests.

Agree and theese protests goes against what Dalai Lama thinks should be done. But it Tibet wants to loose their religion while gaining freedom well good for them. And today i'm starting to think we have people who protest for a living just to get a chance to fight.

China attempting to rubbish the Dali Lama & imply he is a terrorist : fuckin lol.

The likelihood of Mr Lama going to Bejing & "sorting it out" with the skum who run China : absolute zero. ( they would get wtfpwnd alright)

Dont just boycott it, condemn it vigerously.

The entire Olympic Flame event ended up as complete farce. Being beamed around the world.

How the heck are we going to get the 2012 Olympics off and running ?

Heathrow Terminal 5 is a disaster

Who's bright idea was it to give England the Olympics ? 3 weeks of chaos and the taxpayer's going to be paying for it for 10 years after

Support 2012 ? No thanks

The whole situation does sound a little iffy to be honest :) I guess we'll just have to see how things unfold on this charade.

You'd expect the first day of opening of a multi-billion pound Airport to work. It didn't. The eyes of the world were on T5 and "they" screwed it up. Big time. I don't know who's to blame. You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression.

lol exactly how long has china been pwning tibet? and these guys choose now to start making a fuss over it...its not like china started it last week rofl.

and tbh the chinese are pretty damn hardcore when it cmes to plitics so having a flob at the torch with a 300 year old fire extinguisher isn't really going to make them change their minds now is it? these guys have exicutions as a public event, school trips and everything and they charge the executed persons family for the bullet, in other words they really do not care about being popular.

What you mean is the CRS (Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité) which belong to the national police, but AFAIK!!! get their orders directly from the Interior Minister. They're there when the idiots set cars on fire in Paris :p

I noticed on the news, not one of the people interviewed were of asian origin.

Sorry, but it's not our issue, if they want to go protest they can fly to fucking Tibet and protest there. Fed up with people making protests here when its technically none of their business.

Personally i couldn't give two stuffs about the torch, but i'm eventually going to start hunting the fuckers hanging banners off the golden gate bridge etc.

EVERYTHING is so fucking negative nowadays in the news, is there anything positive? Ever?

It's an issue yes, but i don't actually get the point of them trying to put out the torch, woop, they will just relight it again and carry on.

Retards :| pissing me off.

Sarkozy must be joy crazy.

While the ghost of the economic recession planes all over Europe, his countrymen and the french press are busy with a 58 years old conflict in a land 50000km away.

Way to go

rofl ty you made my point. its been 58 years and they just start kicking off now?

talk about a delayed reaction.

Its to do with the Dalai Lama, he's been campaigning for decades for tibet to be free'd, and for none violent protest and passive resistance. He doesnot want his people becoming blood thirsty vengeance thugs, so he's taken the fight on as best he can.

Recenty however, he's loosing control. Many are fed up of Chinese rule, and are sick of nothing happening, favouring action to talk. I fear he's going to get blamed for any and all violent acts that happen in the days and weeks to come.

Which I find strange at most assuming that after taking control of the zone, the chinnesse repopulated (what a term) the zone with loads of chinesse ppl moved from other countryside areas (instead moving large amounts of money to the area they just moved their biggest asset: loads of ppl :p ). So basicaly is now a majority of chinese ppl and a meagre minority of old tibetans over there

Why dont people protest outside every store that sells stuff that has MADE IN CHINE stamped on them? Cause they save money buying the crap.
