The film i remember loving as a child was some Black and White thing.

IT had these people who landed on a planet, and were attacked by a giant invisible monster.

And they had to put people on cliffs and laser fences at the end of this giant canyon to keep it away.

Thats all i remember

Apocalypse Now
Taxi Driver

A Clockwork Orange
Monty Python's Life of Brian / Holy Grail
Alien

I think they all come under the last 20 years, not entirely sure about a couple.

Without a doubt, The Andromeda Strain (1971). One of my all-time favourite films.

On the other night, although BBC1 put it on at some stupid time like 12:50am.

I have so many I love...Kellys Heros, Great Esape, Ben Hur, Aliens, Blade Runner, Cannonball Run, FMJ, Spartacus, Paleface, Tough Guys, Patton, Jaws, Running Man, Dr.Strangelove, Godfather's, The Colour Purple, Outlaw Josey Wales, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Smokey and the Bandit, Fort Apache the Bronx, Duel, Star Wars, etc, etc, etc.

So many more and no doubt a few of the above are just under the 20 year timeframe ;)

Ah, maybe the same confusion I have.

Forbidden Planet was the colour film with a Robot, later on there was a TV series "Lost in Space" (or "Space Family Robinson") which was in B & W and had a very similar Robot.
