Half the fun about the Speccy games was buying it, running back to a mates house, connecting two shitty tape recorders via a DIN plug thingy and copying it. Then running back to the shop and changing it for another game. Ah the days when games piracy was still in terries.

The next best thing was listening to the machine code of game loading only to get ....

SYNTAX ERROR !

5) A game where there was an evil wizard and you had to run around a park collecting ingrediants for spells to fight him with (doppelganger was one spell).

Spellbound?

Spectrum > C64. Boring people who didn't play Manic Miner bought C64's. Nuff said.

I remember playing Manic Miner on the C64!
Didn't it feature Arthur Scargill?

heh, I used to do that too!
"It won't load properly" - or something...
Except, I had a £10 tape splitter for the C64.
Early hifi's could copy certain games too, I remember.

Why did Monty die so fast,
aren't 3 lives enough to last,
the hazards that confront a mole,
in his search for precious coal.

You can wax lyrical about these games, but tbh Raid over Moscow came along and fucking owned all of them.

Heres another one - a game where you had to rescue old grannies, and I think they were on zimmer frames, and you were a superhero maybe... And it may or may not have looked a bit like Joe Blade.

Yeah I remember that too. Exactly the same situation. I had a speccy and had to go round my mate's to play it. I had no clue what to do. Just remember zooming round really fast in car mode and dying lots.
