There comes a time when you need to forgive and forget.

India doesnt have too many hard feelings against the British...and neither do a lot of the other ex Colonies.

Yeah but India had Ghandi.
Anyway, people in Iraq according to what I've seen/read would've gladly followed Saddam rather than Bush, Blair, etc.

Most Qataris hate the british. But its not because you're richer, you're actually poorer than them with Qatar being the richest country in the world, but because of what you did out here during you colonial period.

Infact most of the arab countries are very rich indeed out here.

Just correcting it :p

the countries can be rich, but was more talking about the living standards of the common person. And I do think that that is higher in western countries.

Its the Pakistani and Indian community here that live a very low standard life, squalor and poverty and all that. Otherwise standard of living out here is very high...unless you're a bachelor South African, they tend to live in single flats and save the whole time they're here.

I'd give my left leg to be a Qatari tho. The amount of benefits they recieve is amazing. Standard of living in and around the Gulf is very high as well.

Anyway, what i'm trying to say is that they're not attacking us because they're jealous of how you have "more money". Bin Laden for example, bloody millionaire from Saudi and yet he still attacks America.

Pah. If it wasn't for the British there wouldn't even be a Qatar, or an Iraq for that matter. Bugger.

Sorry, not meaning to be divertive... I was born on 9/02/1984. It's got a 9 in it. There used to be 9 planets in the solar system, but now there aren't. Apparently. I think that mean's I'm going to die. Apparently.

On a more (helluva lot more) serious note, I think though some of the reasons for going to war and the way in which it was conducted - the 'run-up' included - that Spain pulling out of iraq is so very peevish.
I suppose, that this could be some kind of attempt to put a kick up the arse of the UN. Let's hope it works out that way.

The Spanish Government has changed from a Conservative (read moderately right wing) to a Socialist ( read moderately left wing).

That is the reason they are talking about pulling out, it's basic ideology. Also there was, as was reported earlier from the BBC by Will, a very large majority of the Spanish population against going to war in Iraq in the first place. I believe the new Spanish Government would have said the same thing, about bringing their troops home. if the horror in Madrid had never even happened.

Yeah but why can't they see past national political agenda, and realise that pulling out of Iraq is definitely A Bad Thing(tm). It does make one realise how bad this terrorist attack has messed up Spain.

Yep, the socialist party had promised to bring back the troops months ago, so the bombing had no effect on the ruling party (allthough it probably convinced some people to change their minds about which party to vote on).
