When upgrading to SP1 you may get the above error but you can create a Slipstreamed Office XP SP1 disc using the following guide:
http://www.altaser.com/show.php?r=33
Before burning the Disc download SP2 from here:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/officexpstandard/sp/oxpsp2/w98nt42kmexp/en-us/oxpsp2a.exe
Extract to the C:\Office Directory, like you did with SP1 and change these two commands slightly:
to
msiexec /p c:\office\MAINSP2ff.msp /a c:\office\proplus.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb
and this one:
to
msiexec /p c:\office\OWC10SP2ff.msp /a c:\office\owc10.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb
Once both of these have been completed then delete the following files from the c:\Office directory:
MAINSP1_Admin.msp
OWC10SP1_Admin.msp
MAINSP2ff.msp
OWC10SP2ff.msp
Once these have been deleted then burn the files in the c:\Office directory to a CD. Install Office off this disc and then open Word and go to the Help column and click on About Word, it should now show it as SP-2.
You can now download the other 4 program updates from:
