Got ADSL up and running tonight!!

Ordered it through Pipex. I've borrowed a crappy alcatel modem for the time being until my 4 port modem/router arrives from Dabs towards the end of the month.

Pinging the BW FTP at an average of 20ms. Not bad at all.

Maybe I'll get back into the FPS again now that I have moved house and don't have some stoner leeching housemate downloading everyhing he can fucking get his hands on from IRC 24/7.

v1.4 drivers *should* fix that m8.. u can get em from www.adslguide.org.uk if u aint got them already. If you have, then I dunno why it is slow. kazaa is shite anyway

Are you guys serious about the alcatel modem?

It died on me last night more times than I care to count. I then had a brainwave and upgraded the drivers to 1.4.

I didn't get much time to feck about with it after that but, before it kept giving me blue screen errors.

The adslguide.org rates that dabs modem I've got on order pretty highly, and it's also got a 4 port 10/100 switch in it so I'm not grumbling when I can get it for 95 quid delivered. It's just the wait.....

Hmm, well im already on 1.4 Drivers, it came on CD with the Plig and Go package from BTo.

I find it fooks the modem over when I use game searchers like Gamespy or in game browsers. I never bothered trying after I upgraded to 1.4 cos Damini was getting pissed off with the computer going wonky all the time.

I ditched the alcatel usb for an ASUS router and personally found the ASUS to be much faster, both on the net and in my pc's response.

Right. I got a VIA mb so I went to the webby and downloaded the latest USB filter drivers and the latest 4in1 drivers.

All seems peechy now. No crashes any more and it doesn't kill the modem when I look for game servers.

Very good actually. It's nice to go onto a server and see your ping is half as much as everyone elses.

I was on a Demon server last night and was doing pretty damn well. (Quake3 btw). My ping was around the 20 -25 mark while everyone elses was over 70.

i always get 70'ish on BW CS Servers, but very very laggy now... gettin 140 ping
