Thinking of getting a netbook to run daoc, was wondering if any knew if the nvidia ion platform is capable of running the game to a reasonable level. Not interested in running all the fancy graphics - just want to be able play bot acc without having to alt tab all the time.

I don't think the atom would be able to handle all the client side computations that it would need to do, even if the ion graphics chip was up to rendering it, as I've been thinking about it myself.

The Atom is a pretty shit processor at the end of the day and it's not designed to do everything a desktop/notebook processor can do. The architecture is actually a step backwards in design but this sacrifice is made so they can decrease the physical size of the processor.

In short get a small notebook instead of a netbook.

Well the Atom in the MSI wind/most new 10 inch netbooks linked with an
Intel GMA can run DAOC quite well, probably about 5-10 FPS in Mag Mell.
And 30+ in the easy bits.
