Repped for letting people know...although I'm on an ATI but still this is a pretty harsh issue...

ditto, that's nasty - the 9800's dont need any excuse to break as it is nor does anything else in the rebranded-card-of-doom range :(

I wonder if that could break my 260 and I could get yet another upgrade from BFG?

Can't say I'm shocked, the quality of the nVIDIA drivers I've had to install on me laptop for the past 18 months has been appauling. Less drivers more BSOD generators in all honesty.

I don't really understand why people piss around with drivers. It isn't as though upgrading them makes a huge difference (if any at all). I'm more of the opinion that they add some buttons and slidey things to make people think they're getting extra performance, while in the background the software is tweaked to improve response times to speed testing software.

It's across the board. If your card can use this driver, and has a fan, it is susceptible to fault - obviously a 9400 isn't likely to get to that sort of stage in the first place so *should* be quite safe.

It's been reported on everything from 8800GTs right up the ranges through to the GTX260, 285 and 295 and the more recent rebadged efforts (GT220, 240 etc)
