Nvidia have responded to this benchmarking and say it'll all be sorted in the 50 series of drivers due for release before HL2 ships

If this is true, then im totally pissed off seeing as ive just bought a new PC 2 days ago with the Gforce FX5900 ultra in it!!
I have wanted HL2 for along time now and this was a major reason for getting my PC quick so i was ready for the release of HL2!!
The new driver/patch for my card should make the 5900 as good or better for HL2 !

Yeah, I bought this PC so I could run HL2 and Doom 3 at with the sort of detail settings we have been seeing on the video's.

It was obvious really that Nvidia wouldn't sit back and not have any problems sorted asap. It's good to have 2 major 3D gfx chip makers out there to keep each other on their toes. I remember when Deus Ex came out and with the original CD release there were problems with Nvidia chipsets. It ran OK with 3dfx but you needed a little fix to get it to work as well with Nvidia.
