Personalised plates (ie ones that are supposed to say your name or a "funny" word) always seem a bit lamut to me. They're a bit like voice-dialling on your mobile - a good idea at the time, but embarrassing when it comes to actually showing them off in public. Count the number of times you've seen a personal plate and actually laughed/been impressed. Now count the number of times you've seen one and thought "how shit". I bet the ratio is about 1:1000.
It's even worse when people move around the letters, put black dots on or even physically change the letters, all in a crap attempt to make their £250 DVLA special look interesting.
