Just imagine what it'll be like when this thing's perfected - scary.

Seen this ages ago though that was from inside a lab, not outside.

Of course, what they only tell you when you take a good look at the brochure, is that this will only work from a specific viewpoint - it's basically just projecting a picture of what's behind the person onto the person.

So, while it's got a number of applications, camouflage isn't one of them - not only would you need your enemy to be in a specific direction, you'd also need them to be holding the projector...

Yeah it *is* just a projection, but the impressive part is the material that is projected onto (the guy's coat) ... the way it absorbs/reflects light just right to make the guy look invisible. :p

One thing that gets me. The projection is only reflected by the material giving the illusion of partial invisibility.

Cool.

But for a super spy to use it, wouldn't he need to have a group of guys carrying around a projector and stuff to project onto him?

I've seen this material before. Its very expensive. Its used now in place of a bluescreen on television work, it only reflects light at a very narrow angle, so I would imagine if you took 2 steps either side of the camera pointing at him, you wouldn't see any image.

it would be easier to stick needles in the eyes of the observer. Preferably hot ones and squish them around a bit. Then he'd be invisible.

Or make him look back over drums posts over the last few weeks, and he'll do it himself.

(Sorry)
