Think we care? Don't rub it in.

It's not that I'm ungrateful or anything, and I really enjoy this game still. But I do not intend to leave it for WAR, and I dont think GoA should assume that most/all of their DAoC players will go there.

From my perspective it looks like DAoC is doing some of your advertising for WAR, I mean it's supposed to carry the best PVP system in MMOs etc.

I think you misunderstood the point a little. I was responding to suggestions that we weren't going to market WAR and were likely to let EA do our job for us in that regard. I certainly hope that a lot of DAoC players don't leave for WAR. We intend to continue support for DAoC in every way after WAR is launched and we very much hope that people will still enjoy playing it for many years to come. Speaking personally I fully intend to keep on adventuring in Camelot and to play with the friends I've made over the past five years.

isnt that the same tard who use to play nothing but EQ and that was the BEST THING EVER! despite having not tried the others ?

Yup, now he only plays WoW and Second Life and guess what? They're the only things that get any coverage on the BBC's oh-so-impartial gaming site.

But then, let's get things into perspective - WoW just hit eight and a half million subscribers. They banned more than the entire DAOC subscription base (for botting/cheating etc) two months ago and nobody would have noticed if they hadn't mentioned it on their website. More people play WoW than the entire population of Austria. Its popularity is so far beyond any previous game that it's a phenomenon in its own right.

WOW has done one good thing and that is bring MMORPGS out of the closet and into the more mainstream gaming community.

:) afew points, how does the above apply to GOA not telling there customers what solutions they are looking at?

I already said this in previous posts on this thread.

same question as above :)

Playing devils advocate; you respect GOA for not informing its customers on the solutions currently being looked at to improve the player base, because journalists would not get as much money due to the story not being big enough,or them syndicating the story out to other peridodicals?

No, I said I respected Req for keeping schtumm on the whole issue and leaking little (bits which he has). I've a fair idea that he wants to get cracking and tell you all what he wants to do. Again I've talked about this in previous posts on this thread. I have no money to make from GOA releasing any information anywhere at any time. I don't currently work as a journalist as I am unemployed at this time and have no arguement, intention, nor have been asked to write anything for GOA at any time whatsoever. I imagine that GOA release any information regarding their games via a standard press release which is syndicated out to all the relevant parties. The point of being a freelance journalist seems to have eluded you on many assumptions here svart.

To put it bluntly, withhold theinformation, you want a story to earn some money, fu..ck the customers they can wait. :)

That's simply not true, I don't freelance at this time either and I doubt a story of this nature would make me much (if any) money to be worth my while. I don't have any information nor likely to have any that would be of interest from GOA at any point. Yes, I have informed some information regarding this forum about GOA and in hindsight perhaps shouldn't have, but GOA staff and I have that understanding where that won't be the case in the future. Albeit I was trying to do the community and GOA some good in the same instance. Given this scrutiny it saddens me that I even tryed :(

Honestly, how much money can a journalist make on GOA releasing information?

Answered above but that also could depend on what relationship that the news outlet and the source has a relationship with the company and the outlets readers. It can be symbiotic.

:m00:

Hmm, how out of context I have been taken when answering a simple question and given a simple answer.:m00:

Well, that's not strictly true. I'd say WoW was more the catalyst of it just as much as any mmo is in past, present or future. It just depends on your pov tbh.

Agreed, but with enough advertising anything can be made to look good, take Jade Goodie, that useless waste of flesh and organs, who with enough PR made millionairess in less than a year, just because good PR makes them rich doesnt make the product any good. Vista, another fantastic example.

To anyone in the gaming world who hadnt MMOd before, or who had been limited to D2, it would look unique, new and full or bling, to those in the know - like most of us, we take the hype with a pinch of salt and either try and die or pass it over.

Req, I wasnt really saying EA will take over your campaign for WAR, but the financial backing and knowhow of selling it to Koreans, Japanese and so on will surpass most of the advertising GOA have ever attempted in order to pull people not from DAoC, but from WOW, its main rival. The last 2 years both in game and on the internal forums have been a major improvement in communication between players and GOA, my comments were more to say that I beleive there is still a long way to go for you guys to get customer satisfaction where it should be.

Mind you who's playing Austria these days? I certainly won't until they fix that anschluss bug that's been around since beta.

And there was the controversial Volkssturm expansion pack, lost them loads of players...

How many times do I have to tell you, Nob The Stable Boy is not real...You have to make some real friends Requiel, the stuff Nob says it pre-generated text...even if you tweak his words, he's still not real.

Bloody hell, I can't believe I read all of that. Nice thread, with actual constructive posts... You should sticky it as a remembrance, so people can look back in a few years and say 'Look, there WERE constructive posts on FH!'
Anyway, I think there's little for me to add here, other than some off-topic shit, so I'll get back in my cage.
