and proudly danish,
now it's made by Mikkeller, This years Ratebeer Best list has just been released. Mikkeller is placed the 6th best brewery in the world in competition with more than 8.000 breweries! In the top 100 best beers in the world list Mikkeller has four beers - in a competition with more than 76.000 beers.

and they keep winning prizes all over the world and at variouse festilvals,
not bad for two blokes who started of brewing in the kitchen "just for fun"
tasted a few of their beers and gotta say they've all been ace! cant wait to try this one ;)

Mikkeller Black 17,5% (37,5cl)

not bad, that review. though 17.5% is a bit much imo. 8% tops it for me, but I'm a lightweight ofc.

if you wanna try some of their "his" beers

I can recomend

- Beer Geek Breakfast Alc. 7.5% vol. "ace stout!"
- Big Worse Barley Wine Alc. 12.0% vol "to share, strong medicine, no really! it's intense"
- Draft Bear Alc. 8.0% "stlong yet suprisingly fresh"
- Jackie Brown Alc. 6.0% "yum yum"

I've also tried the "black hole stout Alc. 13.1% wich is great too but tbh personally i pref. the "geek breakfast"

actually you'd be suprised how "smooth" some of the "strong" beers can be
when brewed correctly

Probably the same guys who *waste wine(*if such a term can be used for wine), by spitting it in a bucket or some such. Shameless use of alcohol :(

Anyhoo, "proudly dutch", yet there's a big ol' oriental mark on the bottle? :D

Those finer beers are fun, every now and then, but the problem with the oompfy stuff is that you tend to drink it like regulars(excluding chug) and you get buzzed to hammered rather quickly.

proudly danish! not dutch "if it's mikkeller your refering too"
well the oriental symbol is chinese for black as it's a stout ect and so on.

but ye your right, you shouldnt "use" the strong quality beers for hammered purposes, one: you'll get hammered way to fast, two it's a waste of good beers as you wont know jack from squat after five pints anyway.

it's like using a taliskers 18y for whiskey&coke, or a Lagavulin 16y for irish coffee, it'll work but gee wiz

TBH You should give Tokyo Black Ale a try from Yo-Ho breweries.

They're hardly an old brewery either but it's a fantastic Black Ale!

Every beer I've tried with that much alcohol in it has been horrible. Too sweet and near treacle consistancy. I prefer a decent taste to amount of alcohol.

Think I'll stick to Bishops Tipple, Old Thumper, Speckled Hen, London Pride, Spitfire, Hobgoblin.......

I really dont want to seem as if I'm ripping on you, or dissing tho's beers "cuase they'r ok" but if thats the level of beer culture you've experianced, then you have much to try and you might find there's a whole world of nectars out there you didnt know about!

f.exp try out the durham brewery for some nice british style beers,

Taste is build like a B 52 with a lot of explosives on board

I tasted a B52 once, a strange flavour of paint and metal... not nice. I didn't make it to the bomb bay, though.

Sounds like it's one for clowns in cravats and jackets who hang about in private Soho drinking dens and want to be Frank Sinatra. In reality it's probably just overpriced crap in a fancy bottle. After all, as long as the bottle is fancy and the price is high, who gives a toss about the contents?

Real ale ftw. Spitfire is my favourite.

here's oen for the brave fish of the sea, but honestly it's not all that bad really, abit odd, black and tame for an ale, but well somehow, it works, it's an "ok beer" but not for newbies imo.

kelpie.jpg

you can ofc also get stuff like beer liquor or Lambic beers, they'r actually quite good, and well ofc mjød but thats a different thing all together

It was just funny how a "proudly danish"(which sounded like a "proud donut" in my mind) beer is trying to be more oriental :D Nothing "personal" or dissy.

Aye, it's a similar "waste", have to agree. Expensive drinks are expensive for a reason, you shouldn't waste the taste. As long as there's cheap booze to hammer on :D

I thought lik this too, until i tasted a german "smoke beer". It's just absolutely marvelous and showed me that yes, it's not always the same.

But there is overpriced crap out there too.

No problem, just to add that I've tried way too many beers in many locations around the world but real ales are still my fav. I travel a lot becuase fo my job being in Aviation.

Also used to go to CAMRA organised beer events in UK so have tried hundreds. The ones I mentioned were just local ones available in Hampshire/Surrey/Berks. Bishops Neame was my favourite brewery when I lived in UK.

Now I have to take what I can get. Most hotels/bars here in Dubai have very little variety. Only recently have we even been able to get real ales and that is from one slightly not quite legal shop in Ras Al Khaimah about one hours drive from Dubai.

If you ever go to Dublin find a Porterhouse pub and try thier own brew called 'Brain Blasta' or as my mates and I now call it 'Drain Blasta'. Seriously, this shit gets you hammered real fast and could be used as a heavy duty industrial detergent! :D

You may find your taste buds muture with age. Things you loved as a kid, like larger and alco pops soon loose their pull.:p

I hated whiskey when I 12, actually made me sick. Now I love a good single malt.
