Just because numbers have dropped doesnt just mean that DAoC is dwindling, thats rather pessimistic, theres a lot of other games about now compared to a year ago, and people diversify, we all like change once in a while.
I liked SI, i didnt mind toa all that much
but NF killed rvr for the fg vs fg genre, casual gamers might love it but how long will you enjoy hitting doors and hiding in keeps? or running in a zerg?
instances should have been introduced in NF to keep that end of the spectrum but they werent and i doubt people will return for them

Im trying pry but i doubt there will be light at the end of the tunnel, everything in alb is new to me so im enjoying making my way through it finding new zones etc. Toa grind isnt that hard in pry as lower population means less camped mobs (yes been scouting the artis i want already).

Its good to escape the old realm once in a while, shame we dont have the option of playing a 3rd (no way Im playing camlann!). Seeing a new realm for the first time can be refreshing, and a new adventure, and with all the BGs now, anyone can experience RvR.

ToA, well everyone likes a glowy weapon and to be unique, well now you have it, sure its got bugs, what game hasnt. SWG patches more times than I take a crap, so?
The level of bugs in TOA is really poor. It's far worse than most other games.

Balance up the content and tbh its not far off. I will agree there are too many bugs, but all games have them. Just seems lately things have been rather worse than ever.

I'd be ashamed to put my name to a product as broken as TOA was at release frankly.

I believe Mythic have a contractual obligation to release 1 full commercial expansion a year (so far anyway, no idea if there will be another after catacombs) these expansion shave to have lots of shit in em else the publishers wont be happy!

Mid/Excal could muster above 700 ppl total in the realm primetime before the NF patch. After Albs got the relics and Mid where fed up, there is ALMOST 400 ppl online @ primetime. I call that a HUGE drop of population. My guess is that it will be stable around 250-300 ppl primetime after WoW is released or something like that.

For DAoC's sake i hope it is only temporary though.

<WoW will get boring for the people that love RvR/PvP or ppl that dislike PvE (which is about the same) i wanna bet there will be a real drop on the numbers when wow hits us, but i also wanna bet that after 1 month the first few will be coming back and after catacombs a lot more will come.
im not worried about it tbh.>

Your faith may be zealous but seems to be built on hope not facts. Mythic have publicly admitted that there are population problems. The inference from their price rise is that they also have a potential income problem.

Back in 1 month. No one in the US even bothers to mention this anymore. Latest press release: 600,000 sales and over 200,000 concurrent players at Christmas. People who palyed beta and then decided to buy the product are hardly likley to leave (doubtless some will!)

In hibernia/excaliber number sure have dropped big time. Mostly during the xmas hollidays and after.

Even alb numbers seem to have dropped since i dont see many big zerges anymore on alb side or alot of activity. Mostly only on certain days now an alb zerg shows up to try take a keep.

Hib bg's are empty lately. Often during the whole afternoon till evenings there arent even bg's up anymore and when there is there's maybe 6 or so people in it.
Noone in hib/exc is taking the lead anymore it seems in taking towers etc, bg's are mostly very quiet and mostly consisting of stealth classes and a few solo non stealth classes.
It's really been very boring since x mas in hib/exc in rvr. It seems to be very boring overal.

Mids dont have any numbers anymore it seems and most they seem to do is fight albs at bled and 1 or 2 fg's harrasing hibs/albs in hibernia when they fight over towers.
Albion doesnt really respond anymore to hibs taking towers in albion or mids for that matter and if the response comes its usually rather slow like hours later when an alb zerg arrives.

My guild alone which is draconis alumni and was the biggest active guild a few weeks ago has dropped in numbers big time. Many have plain quit, others have moved to eq2, others are playing WoW open beta and i'd say about 90% of the remaining players will be playing wow (including me) once it goes retail. Where there used to be 15-20 players playing during afternoons there's now maybe 6 or so left in the guild.

In bg's you see druids and wardens ask for groups for hours at times or just log off coz they cant get a group, yes also druids. Tank classes ask (im a ranger) for groups and never get invites or offer to be a blocker for rangers.

There's maybe guild 4 fg's left in hibernia that roam alot and get their rps that way. The rest is mostly solo people or small incomplete groups joining the zerg.

The only ones that are often the most hardcore players (playing many hours a day) in the bg's and the ones trying to defend etc are stealth classes, mostly rangers and are the ones still having a nice time in nf. They dont really have a need to find a group and if they need one its very easy for rangers to find group members.

Tank classes are screwed over in nf, classes like wardens the same and druids not getting groups since there's very few fg's that run on a regular basis. The only ones really having a ball are stealthers and even they need to group up most of the time to stand a chance in a zerg.
What a hib zerg consists of nowadays is 80% soloers who get no healing and fall fast in a large battle. They do not get alot of rps and soon fall back to daoc pve.
Soon when rvr gets even more quiet, wow etc, those soloers wont stand a chance without a zerg to hide in once the whole keep fight stuff gets really quiet and also they will not bother with rvr anymore for a while or go play another game.

About instances. I cant see this be any fun. Wont it be about who mezzes the fastest, again the ideal group setup so certain classes wont be wanted at all in instance groups, high rr/ml groups with good gear will usually win, crazy stuff like zephyr, uninterruptable taking no meelee damage 1 sec nuking casters, etc etc.
Could be me but i dont see the point in rvr instances. If you ask me they will be a major dissapointment since i dont believe they are fit for players with toa, crazy ml abilities, and 1 sec casts and insta mezz etc.

The one time nf/rvr was great again without frustrations and everyone was equal and having fun was in NF beta where noone had ml's, arti's and toa gear or bots.

Bots are the biggest curse for game inbalances, they will always keep certain classes way unbalanced and as long bots are in rvr will be screwed.

Then i personally think there's the problem of scouts. Scouts playing a major role in large siege fights combined with the ranged power of the albion realm.
The problem lies again in botting which enables a scout to raise blocking high.
Hib or mid casters cant get close in large siege fights due to the problem of scouts killing them off the second they get in range and if a ranger/hunter tries to stop the scout from killing of their casters they get alot of blocks thus not stopping the scout and pushing them back far enough.

However alb casters ARE able to get close due to the fact that as soon as a ranger/hunter shows his head scouts will kill them off.
The whole blocking issue is what imbalances alb vs other realms alot in large keep/tower fights. Hunters/rangers have to hard a hard time killing scouts who block most of their arrows while scouts have no problem at all killing hunters/rangers which in turn means the rest of their realm can advance easier also.

Sure rangers/hunters kill plenty casters that come to close but the point is that its easier to advance for albion due to the high blocking rate of scouts.
It makes things unbalanced when it comes to ranged stealth fights which is the backbone of large keep/tower fights.
