Ok as I play pool at a high standard I went to a competition local to me which I knew was going to take all day so I park out the back behind the owner of actual snooker/pool place. I know he has loads of room to get out so him getting out without any problems, so I thought I ok.

Later on the car park become full and in order to get people out who wanted to leave you had to move several cars for this to happen.

Anyway, I was playing pool and 1 of my friends told me that someone reversed into my car. I thought ffs as I knew who it was and he had an Aston Martin. The thing was that if my friend didn't tell me this the owner wouldn't of told me what he did so I was buggered if I went out after the damage was done and I was none the wiser.

I went downstairs to inspect the damage and the owner was down there too parking his car. I waited for him to get out and said to him 'You hit my car'. He got angry/swearing at people and shrugged his shoulders at me and then went back up stairs to play his Poker. So I tried to stay calm and looked at the damage he done to my front bumper and what he done was reversed into my car and the exhaust from his Aston took a massive chip of paint off.

The car I drive is a Corsa which has been done up to be a Show Car and it has been in a magasine before so its quite specialised. The body work is all welded together and is fibre glass so its basically 1 shell. The paint job on it is RED with Rainbow flake so you cannot just respray certain parts, it has to be a full respray because of the paint it has on it.

Anyway, having a look at the damage closely I noticed that I have cracks all on the front bumber and the mesh was loose. After noticing all this I went back upto the boss and said to him come look at the damage you caused to my corsa. He went down with me and denied that he did all that damage when I know he did because all the cracks and paint chip wasn't there when I woke up that morning, plus I have witnesses.

After a while he was getting more angry and I tried to stay calm and said to him 'look I dont want to argue with you' and showed him the damage again and tried to explain to him why the bumper had cracks in it. He said to me that he didn't reverse into it hard and noway he could of done that much damage.

As I like doing cars up myself I get to know how much things cost roughly and by the looks of it, it will be roughly around £2000 to fix as the respray will be at a minimum of £1500. I dont know if the cracks in the bumper can be fixed though.

After some long converstions with the owner, he finally admitted he done the damage but only the paint chip and not the cracks in the bumper.

I asked him for his insurance and he mentioned that he dont have it on him and he will phone his pool/snooker with all the details. I thought OK not like he is going anywhere as I know he owns the place.

What exactly can I do even though I know he did more damage to the car than he was admitting to?

It's alot easier to say this than to type it.

If he refuses to give the details, phone the police. You know his name/business

Or put it in the hands of your insurance company, it's what you pay them for.

Just tell your insurance company the damage done to your car and the driver details of the person who was involved in the accident, they will go to his insurance provider and they will battle it out over who is paying for what.
