Have you tried installing the drivers from Nvidia? Maybe it's not showing up in the device-manager because windows can't find the correct drivers. (Actually it will show up but listed under the "Other devices" tab listed as something-vga-adapter or close, been a while so I'm not 100% on the wording :) )

If you have a nForce onboard graphics card crap, then disable it in the bios. Also, make sure the gfx is seated well in the AGP port ( or PCI slot ),

install all fixes/sp's and get directsX9. and as someone said use nvidia.com drivers.

and as you can actully see anything on your screen it must be in your ddevice manager somewere.

your new pc might support agp x8, your old gfx card dosent, so check bios for the right settings.

-try a different slot,
-try another (old) gfx card to check if your system recognizes this one.
-check, what gfx card your pc is currently using. If it´s the onboard card, disable it.
-get some diagnostic tool (Sandra or something) and check your system

What's the point in a 2.2ghz PC for games if you got a GF2MX.

Its prolly showing up as a VGA Compatible card or sth

Just go into device manager ( windows+pause break) and open up the tree *display adaptors* select the VGA card by double clicking. Then do update drivers and use Select Location - pointing to where the .cab file is on your HDD.

OR

Unplug it and remove any drivers u`ve installed - put card back in and when you start up XP *should* say found new device - cancel that and install the drivers yourself from disk.

As said before - If your monitor is plugged into the card and your getting a picture it must be on device manager somewhere.

the ppl disappearing act

The ppl dissapearing act is thanks to your modem/router. Either update your modem drivers or update your router firmware. I had that problem, updated the router firmware, no more dissappearing ppl. ( Router is Efficient Speedstream 5660, shite i know but heck it was free! )

/salut

P.s had the same problem as u did with gfx not wanting to appear, reinstalled (windows) and it worked fine. Windows is a bitch but what can we do about it :/

Wish I could update my ADSL routers firmware... ISP doesn't give the damn password to access it as it's leased from them :(

erm, your GRAPHICS CARD does not show up on DEVICE MANAGER?

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU GET INTO WINDOWS WITHOUT A GRAPHICS CARD!

no really, it would be really handy for you to tell me because i really want to know how.

methinks someone needs to disable / remove any onboard / already plugged in graphics cards!!!

also note: AGP cards will fit in PCI Slots - does not mean they will work!

btw: graphics not appearing for a few seconds etc, defrag ur drive overnite solves this 100% (until a few months later when it fragments again)

cba to see if anyone else has said this so here i go.....
go to control panel and open system icon.
go to the device manager.
select video/gfx adapter and click properties.
click change driver.
choose the dont search option.
choose select from a list option.
change to pci vga adapter and restart machine after applying changes.
when machine reboots install detonater drivers from nvidia.com

ps:make sure any virus checkers are disabled prior to installing drivers or they dont installproperly.
