Or as those yankee bastids are calling it 'The Golden Compass', I really really really cannot wait for this film, I loved the books to pieces and I hope that the film dosn't destroy it.
The bears, deamons, witches, its just all so brilliant ;)

Lets hope it lives upto expectations

I thought the trailers looked pretty shit to be honest.

It's like a cross between lotr meets lion, witch and wardrobe. Just another talking animals film for kids.

Though the witches look pretty hot :england:

I don't have alot of faith tbh.

Jorek doesn't look nearly, epic and massive armored bear like, enough.

The Chronicles of Narnia, good books, movie failed (imho)
But, LOTR, fantastic books, movies managed to pull it off despite some things lacking.
His Dark Materials, great books, worried about the movie.
Who knows, they might pull it off. I'll reserve final judgement until i have actually watched the full feature.

The golden compass is such an un-imaginitve name.. silly yanks, Northern Lights is a grate name.

I'm lookin forward to seein the film, I'm not so picky about the good an bads of these films.. since there aint many fantasy films.

I hope one day they make a film on Terry Brooks shannara series.

all I know is that Narnia failed so horrible its insane

saw the trailer now, and rememberd why I don't usualy see trailers...
feels like there is no need to watch the movie after that trailer as they showed pretty much it all

The book came out roughly the same time as Harry Potter. In the book world it's really well respected and if it came out a year before Harry. It'd have the same widespread success.

The trailer does not really show much of what happens so dont worry about that.

Tis one of the best set of book's i've ever read, however I am a fantasy nut!
I dont think the film will be as good as the book, you simply cant fit 800+ pages into 1 hour 30 mins.

Then again, you don't know what language i read it in...
It might have been a different alphabet, in which case the Jo sound the Io basicly becomes, would have been the same in some :p Since it's not suppose to be pronounced like say the moon Io (eye-oh) See, Iorek derives from Yorick, which is the english form of the old danish name Jorck. And thus pronounced in the way it is. To a dane like myself, the J would have been the natural letter...
(i did infact read it in english, i just remembered the name and put J instead of I :p)

I don't even know the story, or the books, just remember that bear and longmustache comboy guy from somewhere long while back :D

Seems like a nice enough way to spend an afternoon in a chilled area with popcorn.

Was same with Lord of the rings, never read books, moviez was nice enough(yes, nice enough) and if i want, i'll read the books sometime to see the rest of the tidbits.

I really enjoyed the books, but I have a feeling the film will be pants.

By the way, I just dropped a really stinky fart.

Only thing to hope for is that Pullman had a big enough influence on the film to keep it as true to his original story as possible, and I hope all the anti-religion stuff is fixed for the next two books when it becomes alot more relevant anyway
