anyone know what a normal operating temp is for a northbrigde while the system is fully underclocked(stock speeds) / idle? mines going upto 62c and its rather worrying.
Basically i've just bought a Silencio 550 case, it came with 2x 120mm fans and has space for 1 more (which i've put in) the airflow in general seems alright tho I have a mATX board so things are abit clumped up (gfx card for example takes 2 expansion slots and literally sits on top of my northbridge) the northbridge is going to 60-62c idle.
This is what the inside of the case looks like
full setup excluding ram/soundcard/cd-rw
AMD Phenom 965 Black Edition
Stock Cooler (havent had the time to buy a new arctic cooler yet off ebuyer)
HD4890 with a reletively large cooler attached to it (not a stock cooler)
As you can see on the case screenshot the drives are side mounted so the brunt of the airflow coming from the 2 front fans is going straight into the harddrives like a brick wall and I have a feeling the rear fan isnt sucking the hot air out fast enough
Going to replace/fit a few parts to try and bring the temps down, with it being an mATX there is little to no access to the northbridge while my card is in so going to try get a smaller VGA cooler + something to cool the northbridge directly and a decent cpu cooler.
Well it could be that the NB has a bad contact with the cooling surfice or that they used "bubblegum" in between it. Happends a lot (I know for a fact that the VRM's of my MB has a similair problem).
