Have they been conned? What about us? We supposedly live in a democracy but we basically live in a two party state where theres practically no difference between them? Surely thats just a more sophisticated form of dictatorship?

God no. The North Koreans are scary fuckers, not to be messed with, and an invasion would be exactly the kind of move Kim Il-Jong and his cronies would use to galvanise the people. I'd undermine them through smuggled consumer goods; flood the country with millions of free mobile phones and dvd players.

NK is one fucked up country. DaGaffer is correct, its beyond communism and is into the realm of idol worship/personality cult to the absolute extreme.

Communism has a shit load to answer for, nice idea for the time, but badly executed in every instance and now completely irrelevant as a social mechanism.

A dictatorship just means one guy makes the decisions - it doesnt neccesarily mean censorship and oppression neither does democracy mean freedom - look at the 'anti-american activities' trials in the US under McCarthy if you want to see censorship and oppression.
