I want a laptop, w/ integrated graphics ( won't be gaming on it ), but I do want a fat SSD, like 512/1tb, but most laptops are only sold w/ ssds if you want a mobile gpu, 16gb of ram and a load of other wank.

I just want a decent cpu, an ssd and a non cancer screen res, apparently that means I want to get raped by Steve Jobs clones who sell shit to plebs and cant read spec sheets.

Any reasonable suggestions?

i5/i7 + 512gb ssd + 1080p or better,

I don't understand how going from a 256gb ssd >512gb ssd adds £250 to the price?
Do I look like a cunt?

Wat.

As Trem knows I have used PC Specialist for my laptop and you can pretty much spec what you want. You don't mention budget, but you can choose exactly what you want with them.

For what it's worth I just specced up a 13.3" Lafite ultrabook with 8Gb of RAM, i7 with onboard graphics and a 500GB SSD for around £750. Going from 250>512GB SSd made a £80 difference.

Used them since they started up and never had a problem. But never had to return anything either.

be wary of the own-SSD idea. a lot of the more "design" laptops have specialist kit inside and won't let you fit consumer parts. if you want to go that route make sure the laptop will actually let you do it before buying.

Started a new job last week and one of these was waiting for me [its a dell]

I'm quite impressed - has a touch screen, SSD, 3200x1800 13 inch screen, i7 cpu. Its so light, I can hold it with my right hand and type with my left hand. Seems to have some carbon fiber composite as part of the case. Seems fast enough to deal with work requirements. Might be worth a look.

Most review sites would suggest this is currently the best non-Mac laptop on the market.

Yes. You have to scale that UI like nobody 's business. Some stuff doesn't scale or looks naff. Some of MS' older stuff doesn't scale well either.

Aye, I did try to up the size of the icons and fonts and it worked quite well - looks nice on the laptop. Problem arises when docking it on a 24 inch monitor then everything looks too big. Now I just keep it scaled down on the laptop and uses my glasses.

Allegedly Microsoft has fixed scaling issues on high res displays for windows 10, really annoying dealing with it on 8.

We use these at work, no SSD options above 256Gb but otherwise they are pretty good. I've decided to write this sentence with the laptop in my right hand, and typing with the left. It can do that. Check. You never notice you are carrying it if you travel a lot, and it's plenty fast enough when you get to where you're going. Boots up fast enough that I don't really bother with the iPad any more.
