yea I know Gahn, but thats the only good thing about TOA really. Which was what I meant with my 1st post, was abit unclear mebbe.

One of the many examples you can take from what TOA did to the game and the classes.
There is no point now to have high spec shield character since many classes without shield can do the guard-bodyguard job good or even better. So what the point to have a classic "tank" guarder. ToA actualy killed shield speced tanks and the old fashined strong characters.

I left because I dont like sitting at a computer for 6 hrs farming a needed scroll , I left because I dont like sitting at a computer for 6 hours taking part in ML raids and then not being able to sit for 6 hours the next night to finish raid due to work comitments and social life .
I left because of TOA spells etc etc etc .....I would come back to a none toa server and start from scratch lvling my much loved merc to 50 again that took me ages in the first place faster than u can say assist for the win .....
so dont judge wot u dont no plz thnxs

I think i would start a char on a non toa server, or i'd like to transfer some of them. What mything didn't understood with toa, is not all of pepole like pve events. I know many players who play daoc only for RvR and theres nothing wrong with it. And toa engine can't even handle the PvE events wich has brought withit. But without MLs and artifacts you suck on rvrs, why cant peeps get the mls with rvr too, like 300k rp=new ml rank...

The actual content in ToA is quite good and quite indepth. Take a look at Shroudled Isles, they added 3 new zones and a few new quests. Compare this to ToA, although its the same for all realms theres a lot of fresh content and plenty of things to do...

HOWEVER!

They went over the top with the time and difficulty it takes to do things. Taking four groups just to do a master level should not be required! All master levels should be possible with something like 1fg, then it might've been a bit easier to casual players who don't have to get a zerg to do everything.

Scroll farming and artifact hunting is not fun whatsoever. Why should it take 5 days for me to be able to get a chance to kill the Cloudsong mob? Camping a spawn for 5 days is not content, its a fucking bore. Trying to farm for a scroll for 2 days and not getting it is not fun at all.

The content in ToA is good, but the requirements to do anything is a joke.

I agree with elite I would love a Server Pre TOA mabey even pre housing altho i like the housing zone I miss the ppl. and the gatherings in Cear Diogal where you could craft alday and talk with your fellow Crafters. this was all lost Houseing imho.. and TOA has made is almost impossable for new ppl to start that game that dont have a lot of time.. also i would remove /level command :flame:

TOA for me killed the fun in the game...wasnt a case of i couldnt adapt like some plank suggested.

no more fun, no more enjoyment of a game...means bye bye game!

It was a case of rolling alts wasnt viable anymore unless u wanted to spend months on getting them rdy for RvR...camping for artis...scroll farming....xping ur artifact...and ML raids for abilities that were either plain stupid or just overpowered. All this before u could step out into a RvR zone with a slight chance u wouldnt get ur butt kicked

That aint fun !!


p.s TOA will not effect RvR ! (but will kill the "will" to play) :p

tbh i don't mind ToA,
a) gives all the PvE mad ppl something to do
b) somethings can be quite amusing
c)has kept the game going abit longer
Although I'll admit there a several things which annoy the hell outa me, BG, grapple Fz etc, but you learn to live with it and hopefully adapt.

You know what, ToA is "fine", if they just did some simple changes.

1) The more useful an ability is for RvR, the earlier in the ML list it should be. Example: Battlemaster. Should have Bodyguard as ML1, Grapple as ML2. Or even better yet, let people choose the ability themselves.

2) Remove scrolls from artifacts. Make them xp a lot easier. 3-4 hours per level on some artifacts is just insane.

3) Improve the ToA-drops a bit so you're not relying on having ~~6 artifacts to have a nice capping template.

The point of ToA should not be to add a huuuuuge threadmill that every player has to go through to be as good as possible in RvR (i.e. be able to enjoy it). It should be high level content thats 80%-90% "optional" for those who enjoy that, and 10-20% RvR useful for those who enjoy that.

Cause really, give back the time when you xped a char to 50, got him sc'ed and that was that...you were ready for RvR. I'm ok with some PvE but in it's current version, ToA is just too much. Just think about the population imbalance - the thought of swapping server/realm with the enormous effort it takes to go through that again would discourage almost anyone from doing so.

I like ToA, I like the ML's, I like the artifacts, I like all the abililties that came with it... makes it more interresting in my opinion to play.

BUT! indeed... give shorter respawn times on arti mobs (30-60 min's), and charbind them <no trade, no drop> at pickup instead of activation. With that you can only pick up one of thesame artifact. eliminates the farmers, and gives everyone an equal chance to get an artifact. make scrolls drop more frequent, and eliminate the hours and hours of xping that artifact.
Also make ML's come easier ie. take less time..

when those changes are made.. I'll be completely satisfied with toa...

and then it'll be time to reconstruct the crafting stuff :D

But isnt that seen as the point without the artifacts people have a much smaller chance to survive against someone with Artifacts. So therefore the casual gamer is forced out of RvR due to the fact he can't get to the artifacts due to stupid respawn times

I think the drop rate of scrolls should be increased this having to kill same mob for hours to get one scroll. sucks.
Also the encounters where the artifacts dont drop all the time forget it. u kill the mob and get credit u should get an artifact drop.
also make levelling the artifacts easier. my idea is to make df creatures give xp to all artifacts as it is an rvr dungeon. this would increase the rvr side of the game as every realm would want it to level there artifacts. would make the pve peeps get out there and help take keeps if it means they could level their artifacts and would make the rvr peeps happy as they get to kill the enemy.
anyway thats my 2cents for whatever its worth

I hated ToA at first, badly, but it's kinda grown on me now and I've accepted the fact I can't rvr on alts =( - there's a few ml's I'd like to see toned down-removed-fixed tho, grapple probably being the biggest pain in the ass - esp when its coming from 3-5 zerging sbs in Aldorans grp :eek:.
