If he un-installed your graphics drivers it should still show you an image, windows has its own drivers but they are very very crap!

im not sure what he has done but i dont think you should have a black screen.

When you boot, try pressing F8 and going into safe mode...does it still stay all black.

When you go into safe mode you can choose "Safe mode with networking" if you choose this you will be able to go online.

What you could do is download the drivers and install them for your card.

If you press f8 to reach the boot menu you should be able to get around it by choosing the 'enable VGA mode' option.

Blank screen with a blinking cursor top left corner? If so, run through an I386 setup off the hdd using a bootable disk and that will fix the problem.

Do not feel offended, but.. Check the cables JUST to be sure.. it would just suck if you tried everything, to find out that the cable got loose somehow.

And if that doesn't work..

Open PC Case.. remove 3d card, start pc, off pc.. insert 3d card, close case, start pc.

Get a bootable cd (www.bootdisk.com) or google

Boot to a dos prompt

Type c: <enter>
then cd windows <enter>
then cd i386 <enter>
then winnt <enter>

where <enter> means press the enter key. This is aslong as you have windowsXP, which im sure you do.

edit: Let the setup run through, to the point where it gives you the license agreement, at this stage you should be ok to press F3 to drop out and that should....or may have resolved the problem.

You might need to run through all of the setup, and if you have SP2 it might ask you if you want to repair your current installation

I acctually had the vry same problem yesterday or so, and it has nothing to do with u'r bud removing gfx drivers, atleast it didn't have for me.

Simply press F3 when u startup and choose "Boot with the last working settings" or something like that. Might be some other button, but this is what worked for me.

Hope it helps

Had a similar problem when using Windows XP x64 - I had installed Demon Tools x64 (that installs as 32bit :eek7: ) to mount a DVD ISO image on the hard drive, then attempted to mount a 2nd ISO image that was contained within that DVD .. suffice to say XP did not like that.

Boot to last know good worked - everything else failed to reboot the machine.

x64 is now uninstalled for now. :twak:

first advice.... dont let ppl who dont know much about computers fiddle whit ur computer :(

i myself think theres something wrong whit the windows. you can try this:

insert win install cd... then boot it up..it usually says: pres eny key to boot from cd or something. and try redoing the win install. i managed to fix something once like that. if that doesnt work.. good old format C: will fix it.

Might wanna make sure you didnt uninstall your monitor driver, cos I know at least 1 person who's tft didnt work with windows without the driver :( If its a normal CRT, it should be ok without it - as windows will use a PnP driver, but I think some TFT's need specific drivers (I'm waiting for someone to tell me I'm a tech noob, cos really I am ;))

Sounds a bit like a problem I had recently.............tracked it down to Winxp "vgasave" driver.
I uninstalled it somehow :p which is a big no-no.The only option was to re-install xp,although apparently vgasave can be put back somehow.....forgotten how to now ofc ;)
