Are you playing it through their own websites or using (in BBCs case) a third party player such as Real Player (which is what the BBC use)?

Go to BBC and click on play through Real Player me old mucker and see what happens then?

if you need to download, id really recommend "Real Alternative". its basically all the real player codecs etc, put into media player classic. so you can play Real files without that tonne of shite they like to install with RealPlayer :D

Another thought : make sure your pop-up stopper isn't blocking the window that would open for the audio.

It does, but you still need Real Player, or Real Alternative installed. However for live shows on the BBC, for those of us in the UK, you should be able to get it to use media player instead.

No its wierd. I used the BBC as an example that everyone knows, but its the same with a few video things. I try to play BBC stuff in real player OR wmp, and it plays but no sound.

Also stuff like this - http://www.lifelibertyetc.com/RangeBag/video/LLE_Mossberg500_Large.wmv

which is very useful to me, wont play sound in wmp, it will only play in something called combined community player which is very old. I want to play it in WMP dagnammit!!

trying something like Gspot. run the file through it, it tells you what codec you need for it, and if you have it installed

if you aint got the latest version of wmp then download it, you most likely have a codec malfunction (TM)

if you do have the latest version installed then download the codecs for version 6 or 6.5 of wmp. That will fix your issues.

otherwise turn the volume up on your hearing aid.............

ok, its the codecs.....

uninstall 9 and 11 then install 9, then install the codecs for 7.1 or 6.4, you can get the codecs from

Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

10 and 11 have newer codecs that break sometimes and windows gets confused.

let me know what happens

if it works just install 11 again ;-)

OK Ive deleted #11 and then #9, then re-installed #9 and installed the 6.4 package as the other wont install.

Still just plays the same stuff that used to be silent very fast :)

Uninstall all codecs. Uninstall drivers for your sound hardware. Reinstall drivers for sound hardware. Install a codec pack (i use K-Lite myself). There is generally a tool for finding buggered codecs, use it. Try again.
