Yes before you say anything IE is shit, well it's not my issue it's my mums. She gets no sound in IE but everuthing else is fine, including Firefox. Coincides with a froblem she had with flash player not being recognised. Fixed that but teh sound issue remains.

I've made the sure the "Play sounds in webpages" box is checked. and I've reset the setting to default but nothing has come of it. Anyone got any ideas?

I've tried that too. Don't know what's going on.

Got any 'Volume Control' for the audio in the machine on which IE9 might have been muted?

Specifically in my case my Windows 7 systray has a 'Realtek HD Audio Manager' icon, the right-click menu on that includes "Volume Control", and on there I can set the volume level, or mute, of any running application.

When you go into Sounds via the icon in the system tray, you can set the volume level for everything, or application specific. It may be the volume has been muted for IE.
