if you like your heros as deranged murdering psychopaths who should have been locked up years ago for their own and others safties.

if tony martin is a hero then so is the Yorkshire Ripper, he did the world a favour getting rid of all those prostitutes off the streets............

One less smack head on the street \o/

Yorkshire ripper killed for fun. Tony Martin killed cos he was pushed to it by the incompetence and softness of our country's police force.

He also brought about a law change that benefits the rest of us.

Tony Martin, i praise thee. Dont let these do gooders with nothing better to do get to you.

didnt he shoot him while the guy was running AWAY? if not ignore me
if it was i think hes a idiot. if he was acting in self defence fine an dandy. but if the guy was posing no threat he had no right to shoot him. makes him no better than the guy he shot imo
altho this could be totally the wrong thing im going on about.

Tony Martin is a champion to all of us. Comparing a smack head to him is absurd. Who cares if he shot him whilst he was running away? He shouldnt of been in Tony Martins house in the first place!!!!!

he shouldnt have been in his house but that is by no means giving him the right to take his life. chase him out. try an stop him fine but shoot him i think not.
me and my friends broke into our old school once a couple of years ago, most likely the stupidest thing i have ever done, we stole some beer that was stored there for a school fayre thingy. it was stupid an we all know it, we got arrested and punished with the shit being scared out of us.
but by ur theory if sum1 from the school had caught us there and we had tried to run they have the right to shoot us?
unless he was directly threating him and trying to harm him there is no way he should have shot him. it just makes him a gun toting idiot.
ur blaming this on the police, sure its a bullshit system but it doesnt mean we should take the law into our own hands. or should i declare that every1 who walks up the bank of my front garden, which people do have to do if there is a car going by as no pavements, to be trespassing and start blasting.

Your camparison is silly. Comparing a schooly stealing beer for a laugh to a career criminal smack head, whom the police have done nothing to stop is laughable. Tony Martin was at the end of his tether. He had been burgaled countless times and the police couldnt be arsed. I tell you what though, no one is gonna rob his house again.

No time at all for smack heads (not babies who are born addicted mind, thats not their fault) and the only good one is a dead one. If we culled the population of smack heads, i guarntee crime would drop by a HUGE percentage.

i dont see it as silly. i see it as no1 having the right to take any1s life ever except for very few extreme circumstances.
if he was burgled many times then he obviously didnt take the 1st time as a hint his house was unsafe. there are ways to make ur house pretty much impossible to break into short of just smashing a window which most people would not do for fear of getting caught.
if he was at the end of his tether he could have moved away. sure he shouldnt have to, the police should have done something.
chavs piss me off alot. i just hate them in general everything about them. i espeically hate how they act all hard around there mates and threaten me because im doing nothing more than walking along, this would happen on a daily basis if i went into my nearest town everyday. tell ya what im gonna go shoot the next 1 who does it. im sure no1 will ever do it to me again after that. or hell i could go kill that old lady that often tells me im a no good vandal because of the way i look. infact she always accuses me of anything that happens in our village... shame all i do is sit in my room playing games.
but she has caused me much grief by saying these things, infact i was banned from a good deal of place in the village for about 3months before 1 of the kids that was doing it got caught vandalising the public phonebox, to which his mother actually insisted that i had somehow framed him, tbh that did make me lmao when that happened. should i shoot her an all the other people to make them stop?
i could say the same thing about vandalism an violence dropping if we got rid of the chavs.
the problem is there is no such thing as right or wrong. there is just different points of view.
dont get me wrong. im not saying people stealing or breaking the law is right. quite the opposite in my pov. but this smackhead probably didnt see it as wrong. he probably didnt care that he was hurting people.
imagine if we lived in a world were things were different that smackheads an stealing and shit were a way of life. but u thought this was wrong. if the majority views differed, u would infact be "wrong" should u then be shot for having this different pov?

he shot him in the back when he was running away with an illegally held firearm. next you'll be telling me that the IRA are all good guys and heros because they occasionally assisinate people they deem to be criminals.

In fact I think i want to be a hero, so i'll start carrying round a gun and shoot anyone who looks at me in a threatening way or drives a white van as they are all potentially people who might kill or injure me ;)

he shouldn't have had the gun there anyway, he had had his shotgun licence revoked previously because he was a nutter.

just trying to make the point that a lot of the pro home defence people leave out a lot of the salient facts in the case. personally i believe that people have a right to defend themselves, however what Tony Martin did was illegal and indefensible. He should have been locked up a long time beforehand as he was a danger to himself and others and a very fragile and broken individual.

wasnt meaning that it made his case better. meant that its an even better case for locking him up. as in agreeing with u. incase u mistook it.

Tony Martin had spent best part of £2000 trying to make his house safer yet the burglars still came. Why did they still come? BECAUSE THE POLICE DIDNT GIVE A SHIT.

As for shooting someone being illegal, well up until Tony martin shot someone, actually hitting someone in your own home was illegal. As i said, if the smackhead didnt want shooting he shouldnt of been in his house. He got what he deserved

and no matter what the law was concerning home protection Tony Martin would have still gone to gaol for murder as having an illegal weapon makes it a premeditated act. He is the worst poster boy that pro defence people can have as he was a dangerous nutcase before he was burgled the first time and an obnoxious one at that.

Oh and hitting someone in your property wasn't illegal. We have always had the concept of reasonable force enshrined in law in terms of personal defence, people forget that, recent laws have only clarified that point. It is only illegal when you use disproportionate force when defending youself. Tony Martin was not defending himself, he coldly and callously shot 2 people in the back when they were running away and posed no threat to him and shooting people is not a use of reasonable force.

It's like diving into a river and then whining you got wet :wanker:

deserved to be shot in the arse - the pair of em were both known to the police as criminals, and Mr Martin had said they had been harrassing him for months. He lived in fear because he had no-one, and no-one wanted to listen. They both have/had a record as long as your arm, but the pissy, tiptoe approach our JPs have to take to law and punishment given out meant these two "career crims" were still walking around, basically being aloud to commit crimes freely. THEN the cheeky bastard who took it in the arse from the bang stick tries to SUE Mr Martin for LOSS OF EARNINGS?????????!?!?!?FBIBBQ!?!!?!?!W"!£"£W?"!?!???!?"!?E!?E!"?WE!?"£?!WTF?AQ?"!?"!??!!!

so you support the death penalty for burglars then?

and the right of every person in the country to be judge, jury and executioner as and when they choose.

the fact that the police may or may not have been negligent does not excuse murder by anyone.

Dude, when the law abandons you, what are you to do? If you report, to the point of almost begging, that you are being terrorised in your out of the way house, by two people who should've been locked up years ago, but our judicial system is crippled by Euro-crats who cost us Millions every month?

There comes a time when the system fails catastrophically, and its only when the people who are meant to govern it deny that it's failing/failed, that something as hench as this happens.

If these two guys continually broke into my house, threatened to kill me, told me they were going to burn down the house, stalked about outside at god knows what o'clock, and in the middle of the night they actually came into the house, without a second thought, i would defend what i would believe to be MY LIFE. If that means taking the life of the other person, then so be it. It's called personal preservation - in the US "Justifiable Homicide" - and holds the value that in your complete and total belief, if you hadn't have acted in the way you did, your life would've been taken. Wheres the issue there?

From what i can remember you have the facts of the case very wrong there. He had been burgled a couple of times before (which although not good is very common and needs to be sorted out) he had been repeatedly threatening people, not the other way round as you put it (in fact one of the reasons he lost his shotgun licence was taking pot shots at people)

If this was in the US even Tony Martin would not have gotten away with justifiable homicide because he shot them in the back when they were clearly running away from him, offering no real threat. In fact if this had been in most states of the US he would have gone to gaol for a much longer time.

a couple of times? K mate whatever. The facts are. The law let him down. He took into his own hands. Quite right too. Good on him

Tresspassers - he had thretened the kids and teenagers who had been tormenting him, cos he was the stereotypical "weird lonely guy". Don't tell me your area didn't have one when you were a kid - they probably all told each other he ate dogs or something.

If this was in the US even Tony Martin would not have gotten away with justifiable homicide because he shot them in the back when they were clearly running away from him, offering no real threat. In fact if this had been in most states of the US he would have gone to gaol for a much longer time.

Theres no proof they were running away from him - it was pitch black, one shone a torch at him in a hallway, from the bottom of a set of stairs. Go stand in the hall tonight, turn off all the lights, then have someone stand and shine a torch at you. You can see nothing cept a light. He saw intruders in his home, he's had people threaten him and despite all his pleading, he was left on his own to fend for himself, and thats exactly what he did.

The moral fibre of the ones who broke in came to the fore when the survivor tried to sue him for loss of earnings - he was a career criminal, and the CPS GAVE HIM MONEY to take this action - if you don't have total contempt for him for that, then surely having the gaul to do that should make the bile rise jus a blin, right?

I'd stand by Tony Martin - nutter or not, he defended his property in the only way a scared, lonely, isolated old man thought at the time.

ye, but the point is that he shot people in the back no? how can that be self defence? if he'd fire a shot in the air and they fled he defended himself, if he shoots fleeing kids it's attempted murder (and murder when they die). About the sueing, that's just plain lame, but still dont change the fact he shot them.

Do you know neither of them had a gun? Do you know neither had a knife? How do you know he knowingly shot them in the back? As i said, shine a torch into someones face in the dark, they can't see a thing - i believe he woke to the noises, in an effort to preserve his own life which he believed to be in danger he reached for his shotgun. Startled by the light, with no idea who, or how many, or what they had pointed back at him, he pulled the trigger. Once. He had the option of a second, but didnt use it.

And on that, do you ever stand with your back to something in the dark, and shine the torch over your shoulder, or between your legs to see it??

didn't think so. Little buggers tried to break the law, the law got broken back and they started crying - all's fair, all's square imo...

ok what did u mean by this comment, no1 does this and i do not understand y u said it. because he didnt shoot them when they were shinning a torch into his face afaik. he shot them in the BACK while running AWAY. or did i get that wrong?
maybe if he had shot them in the faces while they were shining a torch into his eyes and/or about to go for him it would have been acceptable, he would have been defending his life.
