Anyone got one ? Played on one ?

I've liked the look of some of the games I've seen on the ads. That brain game for one. Whatever its called.

But whats it really like ? Do they suck big balls ?

Or are they worth spending £100 on one ? How much are the games for it ?

theyre a weird contraption, not really a gamers choice but they do the weird nintendo games (kinda like gamecube was, niché more than standard) and have come out with some good uns

originally I think he played a dog game where basically you brought up a dog in tamagotchi style

then the braintraining wave hit in, and he had that on the go for a while which I think is fairly decent

the big one now seems to be this game where you kinda live through life paying a mortgage and buying a house and its furniture etc by doing strange mini games, bit like the sims but on a more basic level, even saw some little, almost toddler, playing it on the train the other and she was engrossed, whilst her mum was giving out the advice so obviously theyre aimed at all ages

wouldn't get one to "game" but for a timekill whilst travelling or what not, could think of worse ways to waste money

That fine m8. So basically the only thing worth getting it for is the brain training, and most people play it on train jorneys or what not to kill time.

Mario Kart is good fun.

You could always invest in an R4 cartridge and obtain your games by other means...

its definitely a console aimed at kids, as the cube was definitely aimed at party games and the wii has its niché with the controller

nintendo have given up the market share but theyre clever enough to realise theres still money to be made within different areas of said market

The Super Mario Bros is good old-skool fun. The mini-games are great for long-haul trips =)

The Brain-Training is great fun! It taught me how backward I really am, since I dont write the number '8' correctly. Some of my maths must have looked a bit weird. The "say the colour" game is good to show off to people too.

To be honest, would rather have a ds over any of the next gen consoles.

Wide array of games, can play old gameboy and gameboy advance games, cheaper games and generally 1/3 of the cost of an x-box

Get Final Fantasy Tactics, the new Super Mario World game, Mario Kart DS(fantastic!) and that braintraining if its your cvup of tea

was definately gonna get tactics.
not really a fan of mario kart or the braintraining thing.

thing is, i was a bit dissapointed with final fantasy 3. was wayyy to easy once you had high enough job levels, even with basic jobs. dragoon, thief, white mage and a warrior and could kill anything by the end of everyones first turn.
also didnt like the story, and the design of the whole thing didnt seem very final fantasy-ish to me.

will get tactics when i can afford it. (probably never )

Got some card game and bomberman for the DS and really like to play online with it (and with the Wi-Fi USB connector you can also get online with the Nintendo Wii if you have one) I've also spend over 200+ hours playing on it.
Deffo not a bad purchase if you like the games that are (being) released on it.

Theres some really good games for it, some have been mentioned. Not just party games.

Final fantasy 3
new super mario bros
Elite beat agents (I wouldn't buy it, but it got good reviews)
Phoenix wright games
Metroid prime hunters is meant to be good
Animal crossing
Pokemon
Starfox command
Trauma Centre

I could go on, theres so many good titles.

Whether you want casual gaming or even a little bit more, I say get one!

Get a PSP.

All the games i've seen get pretty boring after a while.

I have one. The PSP is alot better in terms of graphics and the games for me sometimes i think the touch screen slows down the game just for the quirk. DS is much quick fun and buy a R2 card and you can have 30 games on it for a laugh. On the train i take my DS and play lots of different games. In the car i take my PSP movies games ect. I think the DS is worth the money but if i could only have one it would be the PSP.

Lamp its well worth it imo. I have an hour journey into work, a little longer on the way back. I have New Super Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda Phantom Hourglass (tis uber).

I find the Nintendo innovation is excellant stuff, and as you only play for short durations you dont finish them in a day.

The brain training game has a limiter so you can only play for an hour or so iirc?

The sales figures for the DS speaks for itself. As already suggested get yourself a plug in card and stick a few games on it. Great fun if your mates have one as well bomberman and mario are class.

PSP WILL be better, just not yet.

Nintendo has always excelled in one area, they know what the hardware can dish out. And go under it So basically you'll get "as good as" from release. PSP still has so much untapped potential, that they might make PSP2 if they don't reach it relatively quick.

It's getting better, but what i've seen a while back, PSP didn't impress.

NintenDogs is a must buy also.

Not only is it a "fun timekiller", but the ladies love it

Looks like a lot of fun - but I would pick the PSP aswell... or I already did... or to be honest, my X did for me hehe.

But dunno if you can get some sort of mind game for the PSP aswell. I got my dexter and FM07, that's all I need. Plus it works as a video/music player for me when I am on the train.

I have both the PSP and DS, I like the DS more. The stylus is a really nice touch for games imo. Button bashing gets boring with the PSP.

Since I got Tactics, i have complted it twice, both times with over 70 hours played. Its a nice little timesink

PSP is shit in my opinion because it's like a smaller, fiddlier PS2. PS2 games are mostly crap, i only like a few games on the consolse so anything else bores me pretty quick.
I have played alot of ps2 games, a psp is just going to extend that pain.

DS could be likened to Wii, however I have not played that much so it's a breath of fresh air.

I love my DS, awesome for time killing, like pik3h i spent far too much time playing Pokemon, god knows why theres something addictive about it even though I'm 21 :E
FF3, Fifa08, Braintraining are awesome though and the wi-fi capabilities can be pretty cool.
