Nightshade template.

I have just started on Excalibur, in Hibernia as well. Used to play Midgard on the US servers about a year ago, but took a break.

Anyway, onto the crux of this post. What is a fairly good Nightshade template? Kind of thinking a lot of Critical Strike here, but I just want some input from people who have played the class.

Thanks in advance.

As long as you keep CS, peircing and stealth quite high you should get on fine soloing and grped. I would aim for a spec like this, 35ish stealth/venom, 39-44 CS/peircing and rest in CD, hope this helps:)

Thanks Dangle, looks good to me, although pretty much anything would.

Okay, good to see that the old Catacombs builder is still up and running, so I ran through your advice there and came up with:

Critical Strike: 44
Pierce: 39
Stealth: 35 (This isn't too low, is it?)
Envenom: 35
Celtic Dual: 20

I wonder if sticking with Celtic Dual in my lower levels might prove fruitful, before swapping to CS/Stealth at 20, with my respec?

Celtic dual is more or less useless at low levels, if youre planning on that youre way better off just specing envenom for a good dot poison.

Hehe, I guess it's a good thing I am playing DAoC and reading the forums at the same time, as I already have Pierce specced to level (4, woo go me!).

Ah well, I guess I will make do with 1 Stealth, 3 Crit Strike and 4 Pierce then. I was only going down the CD route, because I wasn't sure 1 Stealth would be useful against level 5 - 10 mobs.

35 stealth isn't too low. Once you get rr5 the bonus from that plus capped +stealth from items will give you 50 stealth. Which should be your target. :)

Oh well, all is good then.

I assume that overspeccing gives no bonus then?

What bonus does +rr give you to Envenom?

I thought you had to spec to get all of the poisons.

No.

Envenom works off modified Spec. So, if you have 35 envenom, you can use a level 35 poison. However, if you have 35 envenom, and then +11 from your items and, say, +1 from Realm Rank (giving +12, and 47 envenom spec in total) you can use the level 47 poison.

My NS has 35+15 envenom, meaning I can use lifebane (level 50 poison) :great:

i'm going for

42pierce
42crit
35env
35stealth
19cd

currently working very well at lvl 47.

Is there a discernable enough difference in base damage to warrant not speccing to the second last CS style, though?

i'm going for:
44 cs

Aye, it seems to be pretty much the norm for most Nightshades.

If it works, don't fix it.

Actually, before this post subsides into the quagmire that is the lower pages of Barrysworld, what stealth items can I acquire below level 19, to ensure that I can get (at least) +3 to stealth?

Doubt I would have enough cash to get that kind of stuff spellcrafted.

My spec is:

44 CS
42 pierce
35 stealth
36 envenom
11 cd

The last CS move is nice, but you dont have alot of chance to use it. But the less you have to use garrote, the better :)

The level 44 pierce move isn't all that great, so I specced 42 pierce to get lifebane ~250k rps earlier :)

im going:

44 blades
39 critical strike
36 envenom
35 stealth
21 celtic dual

This specc is with a autotrain to 10 stealth...

I wouldnt go higher then 44 in a weapon but it gives u a smaller boost to your weaponskill.. but it wount help as much as the +% to dual swing.. think its +1% for each 2 pts u spend in CD.. means 21 = 10% to dual hit ... wich will be lots more effecient then those smaller pts to ur weapons skill ... when u reach higher rrs u can always specc out of envenom and some stealth to raise ur CD even more... rr7:

44 blades
39 critical strike
33 stealth
33 envenom
28 CD

I'm going for a RR6 spec

44 pierce
44 CS
34 envenom
34 stealth
14 CD (few points saved from autotraining stealth)

My NS template has all resists at 25%+, +200 hps, capped Str, Con, Dex & Quick, +11 stealth, +11env, +11 pierce, +11 CS, +3CD so at RR6 end up with...

60 pierce
60 CS
50 envenom
50 stealth
22 CD (dualist reflexes 2 as well)

Nerf!! :p

It will take ages to get RR6 without a buffbot ;(

spanky maybe you should consider a lil less envenom on SC template so you can get +11 CD, then u can switch an item to poison, like epic gloves or DF jewel. you might not like the idea at moment, but once you have done alot of rvr with the shade you will want as much CD as possible:)
