Nice single player rpg to play....

For the PC. Not oblivion as cba to upgrade PC to play it just yet.

I've played and enjoyed Diablo I and II, FF series, DAoC, NWN so i'm looking for games like any of these.

My all-time favourite is Fallout and Fallout 2, set in a world after it was blasted to bits with nuclear bombs. Huuuge area to travel through, great character-development, funny easter-eggs ( and if you have the uncensored version - blood 'n guts! ) This game has turn-based combat.

I also loved Arcanum, it's reasonably similar to Fallout but in a totally different setting - a land where you have both technology and magic, but those 2 totally collide. Humongous as well, so good for hours of game time. This game can have both turn-based combat and real-time combat.

Both terrific RPG's, hope that helps!

Legend of Mir is pretty easy to play and doesnt need much graphics

Guild Wars is fairly low spec too

The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind (some say that is better then oblivion)
Heroes of might and magic II, III (old but imo one of the best pc games)
Dungeon master I and II (old school!)

for content over graphics, fallout 1 + 2 are immense, if rather dark
also cant beat the baldurs gate series + expansion packs, if you "complete" them they are huge
(the icewind dale games were a bit small and crap)

but try the
Might and magic 1 - 9 series if you want single player rpgs

Get Thief: Dark Project 1 - 2 - 3
(first one is the best, although it´s a bit out-dated now)

Play it in the dark with headphones on. Best gaming experience you can get.

Star Control 2 <grins> very old but you can download the XP modified version for free.
Dont know if you can get it but planescape torment is very very good.

The 4th one was absolute crap

Ooh...... and HoMM V is due out this year with 3d graphics etc ,but based more on 2 and 3 for the gameplay

For a single player rpg you could try Divine Divinity (the follow-up was a bit naff) .A huge game with nice graphics similar to the Baldur's Gate series

Think Grandia 2 was ported to pc, bit old now but it's one that hasn't been mentioned, was pretty fun on ps2 :d

Fallout: Tactics - if you like action more than in-depth storylines and roleplaying

I really enjoyed SpellForce, tho it's a swine getting the expansions to it. I believe SpellForce 2 is out soon.

Anyways SF1 is a mixture of RTS and RPG, a bit like Baldurs Gate meets Settlers or Age of Empires

A lot of the best single player RPGs are years old, if you can stand 256 colour graphics then try:-

Ultima 6/7/8 (7's my favourite, great plot, fantastic world, the kinda detail you dont get once you start modeling stuff in polygons).

Dungeon Master (The original) - fantasic atmosphere, pure dungeon crawl.

If you want something newer I would advise:-

Baldurs Gate / Neverwinter nights - Great adaptation of D&D rules.

If you want something really great then try and find

Soulbringer (released 2000ish on various labeles including Black Isle), Why? Well lets just say I was lead programmer on that one

Baldurs gate, Icewind dale, Final fantasy series are all extremely solid.
Definately worth a go if u haven't tried them already!
