guys,

Got my pc up and running and the lat thing I did was stick in the NIC card. As soon as I had insterted it into the PCI slot, the PC switched itself on!

Now - the card seems to be working, but I am having issues;

1. The PC doesnt seem to power off - when I shut it down the monitor goes blank but the fans etc keep spinning.
2. Sometimes I tell it to shutdown, but it restarts instead.

Do I need a new NIC card, or is there something else which could be a problem?

One possibility - go into your BIOS and see if there's an option for "Wake on LAN" somewhere in there. If there is, make sure it's set to "No".

Or have you an option to move it to a different PCI slot?

You should really unplug the computer before installing components :)

Wasnt an obvious option for wake on lan, but i changed the setting for "Wake on PMC" and it seems to have done the biz
