Our very own Lazarus has finally flexed his virgin reviewage muscles, and put together an interesting review of the Nexus AXP-3200 Athlon XP cpu cooler.

If you find you fancy one, they are available from Novatech for 17 quid :eek6:

bargain tbh.

nice review Laz, coulda done with some piccies of installing it though... aside from some small spelling mistakes it was very nicely written.. One other detail you could mention is what other speed cpu's does it cope with or is it just the 3200+? unless I overlooked where you wrote that.
top Job!

Why thankyou jaba. Nice to know someone actually reads these reviews. I'll take some of your criticism on board for next time if I may. Problem with taking picture during fitting was that I was sweating like a pig AND worried that I would balls it up.

Next time tho....

As for the speed, it fits up to 3200. mine is only and XP1800 1.53 GHz.

Well no one has looked in on this one recently, so i will now :p.

Last night i bought the AMD Athlon 3200+ (Not 64) along with some memory.

However i overlooked the fact im going to possibly need a much better CPU Fan. Question for you is, was/is (know its a long time ago) the Nexus fan very good, and since its been about 3months can you recommend any other fans which do the job of keeping it cool and being quiet?

Try and find a Thermalright SP97 somewhere, coupled with a Vantec Stealth fan and fan controller.

Seems like a bit of a pain in the arse if you have to remove the motherboard from the case completly according to some reviews ive been reading...

Id i did id probably wanna buy a new LianLi Case as well, but noooo must resist the urge of spending more money ;o

I upgraded in early December to an AMD XP 3200+, and getting the right heatsink'n'fan was a bitch. I got a gigabyte m/b too, which reports the cpu temp on the high side anyway.

I started off with one of those "low noise" fekers...waste of money...cpu ran @ 60-68 deg (!!!!!).

Eventually, I managed to get myself a Thermaltake Extreme Volcano 12...sweet as fuck...max temp 50 deg.

Same price as the cooler Laz reviewed above.

P.S. The Volcanos heatsink is ALL copper, and, the airflow rate is:

26.50 CFM at 20°C
72.92 CFM at 55°C

It's a noisy feker at full pelt :D , but I like it!!!

...spectacularrrrrrrr!
