Does anyone have any idea when a newbie stops being a newbie?

Is it the day people stop swearing at them because they've learn't to fly the bombers 'above' the hills and not into them? [never done that - honest ;) ] Or, maybe when they stop setting up turrets in the remotest locations possible just incase an enemy wanders past? Or do they have to have played the game for three years (quite a feat if you think about it) and regularily go for drinks in the pub with one of the lead programmers?

This is only a semi-serious question (and NOT a rant), I'm just interested in what people think. I'm probably still a newbie, I've only owned the game a week...

Just know how to play, simple as that you dont have to be good at the game just know the objectives and your limitations.

Practise the game offline and learn what u are good at attacking or defending, dont take a vehicel if u cant fly, dont place all your turrets/sensors if there is someone already doing it ebtter than u. Dont tk, people wont shout at u if u look like u know roughly whats going on.

As Chet said, as long as you know the basics of the game and do not ask questions that are stated in a manual, you are nnot a newbie. If you do st00pid things sometimes, make sure it doesn't affect another team member.

Anyone who calls you a newbie for haveing a failed cap run (like i did the other day, but the acuser got kicked-i didn't initiate vote :)) doesn't know the meaning of the word.

As an ex-newbie...

Probly once you get comfortable with the maps. If you know the map you can loadout while the map is loading, and spring into action while everyone else is staring at their bellybuttons.

Knowing locations of fields of fire of base turrets. Likely defensive positions don't really change, because players are now starting to find the most efficient place to put turrets etc.

You're not a newbie if you see someone else on a server doing something that makes you think "Gah, what a fuckwit, they're doing that all wrong!!"

lol yeah granny

the true sign of someone who has graduated from newbie status to "l33t d00d" is one who immediately starts shouting "My team is shit, my team is lame" and begins a vote to kick his gens defence :)
